Robert Adolph Lohse, 84, of Forsyth, formerly of Artois, California, passed away peacefully at his home on April 6, 2016. He was born on February 26, 1932 in Artois to Anna (Reese) and Gustane Lohse.
Robert attended Artois Grammar School and Willows High School, where he graduated in 1949. He served in the Marine Corps from 1951 until 1954.
He married the love of his life, Norma Lee Spence, on February 13, 1960 in Artois, California. To this union, two beautiful children were born, Richard and Naomi (Nan). They made their home and raised their family at the family farm in Artois, and St. Ignatius, MT. His final years were spent at Larry and Nan Quinlan’s family farm in Forsyth.
Bob really enjoyed spending his time hunting and fishing, playing baseball, taking drives to see deer, playing cards, playing with all children and making them laugh. He really looked forward to the harvest and loved moving sprinkler pipe with his children. Bob loved life on the farm and ranch. He thought that he was really funny, even when others didn’t agree.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Norma; his twin Dick and other siblings: William Lohse, Anna Marie Pavlicek, Walter Lohse, Ernie Lohse, Mable French, and Dorothy Rehse.
He is survived by his children and their families: son Richard Lohse, grandson Hunter Lohse, and granddaughter Ann Alyce Lohse; and daughter Nan (Larry) Quinlan, granddaughter Amy Quinlan, great-granddaughters Elizabeth Quinlan and Emmilee Quinlan, grandson Joe (Katie) Quinlan, great-granddaughter Jensyn Quinlan, great-grandson Karston Quinlan, and grandson Sam Cain.
Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday April 12, at 2:00 PM at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home of Forsyth, and at a later date in Artois, California, where the burial will take place. Cathy Byron says
Nan and all –
Bob was a bright spot in the lives of the Byron bunch. Sam enjoyed his company and their visits, as did the rest of us. He was a gentle man filled with common sense and compassion for his fellow human beings. My heart and prayers are with you. Be grateful for the rich treasure of memories he left behind. And to know he is rejoicing and dancing with your mother is a treasure as well … Hugs to all.

Nan and family,
You all are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. You and Larry took great care of your dad these past years and I’m sure he loved every moment with you and your family. You are a good daughter, and now he is with your mom. May that bring you peace. I do know they were so in love. I am with you today. Love and hugs, Cousin Carrie.
