Robert Arthur Pembroke, age 91, of Gaylord passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at McLaren Central Michigan Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.
Bob was born on June 30, 1931, in Miles City, Montana, son of Arthur and Sally (Frankforter) Pembroke. Bob proudly served his country in the United States National Guard of both Montana and Wyoming. He worked for Shell Oil Company for 35 years in numerous states. Bob enjoyed woodworking, watching sports, keeping up with current events of the world, but his main passion was doing yard work.
Bob is survived by his children, Sally (Dave) Peterson of Farwell, Mary (Allen) Montoye of Mt. Pleasant, Larry (Toni) Pembroke of Gaylord, and Nancy (Tom) Ridley of Mt. Pleasant; adopted son, Matthew Pembroke of Mobile, Alabama; eight grandchildren, Paula (Caitlin Murphy) Peterson, Joe Peterson, Alex (Laura) Montoye, Eric (Madeleine Randolet) Montoye, Tyler Pembroke, Tanner Pembroke, Collin Ridley, and Mitch Ridley; three great-grandchildren, Benjamin Montoye, Thomas Montoye, and Remy Randolet; two sisters, Mary Graham of Helena, Montana, and Gertrude “Bunny” (Rich) Nunberg of Wibaux, Montana; former brother-in-law, Ben (Bev) Farner; former sister-in-law, Nancy (Jim) Ballard; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Florence “Tootie” (Robert) Chabo and Kay (Leonard) Cridland; and two brothers, Lawrence “Brother” Pembroke and Harold “Sonny” (Val) Pembroke.
A graveside service will take place on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at the Calvary Cemetery in Miles City, Montana. Following the graveside service, the family will gather at the Parlor on 1806 Main Street to celebrate Bob’s life. Memorial contributions may be made to charity of your choosing.
