Robert (Bob) Lee Millard, age 77, of Wolf Point, MT passed away April 11, 2011 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born December 28, 1933 to Donald and Elizabeth (Heser) in Wolf Point. He spent his young life on the family farm in McCone County. He attended South view grade school and graduated from Wolf Point High School in 1951. He entered the Army in 1953 and spent two years. Much of that time was spent in Germany along with his brother Larry. Bob always tried to grow tulips to match the one's in Holland that he so loved. After he was discharged he attended MSU in Bozeman and U of M in Missoula. In 1958 he returned to the family farm to help his mother after his stepfather died. He loved farming and playing, bowling with his many buddies.
In 1961 he met the love of his life Ann (Trapp) Samuelson. They had four children Rick, Connie, Joe, and Wendy. After his marriage, he worked at the Farmers Lumber and UBC Lumber in Wolf Point. He joined UPS and thoroughly enjoyed his employment with them until his retirement after 20 years. He especially enjoyed getting to know people on his route and developed many special relationships with them.
Retirement did not slow down Bob. For his whole life he was a devout Catholic. Retirement only gave him more time to participate and help people. He always attended every Mass weekday or weekend. He often lead the rosary before Mass. He was an avid participant in the Knights of Columbus and very proud when he attained the 4th degree. You could always depend on seeing him on the street selling tickets for the boat race.Bob lived his religion. He spent countless hours doing charity work. He and his best friend Moses Whitehorse made sure that the Basket of Hope stayed open even in the absence of other volunteers. He helped so many of his neighbors at any time they needed whether it be mowing their lawn or giving them rides. He could always be counted on.
More than anything Bob will be remembered for his sense of humor. He always had a quick comeback and loved playing practical jokes. His family will always remember as being a loving supportive father and brother. His nieces and nephews will always remember his unmerciful teasing. He especially took great pride in his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Elizabeth; his wife, Ann; and his son Rick.
He is survived by his daughters Connie (Oscar) Bencomo of Deming, NM and Wendy (Ernie) Flynn of Lolo, MT; son, Joe (Vickie) Millard of Purvus, MS; brothers, Larry (Vicky) Millard of Great Falls and Jerry (Arlene) Neumiller of Wolf Point; sisters, Beverly (Glenn) Dyck of Whitefish, Rose (Rick) Green of Wolf Point, Judy (Mike) Wagner of Helena, Irene Moe of Wolf Point, and Connie (Doug) Granbois of Clarkston, WA; grandchildren, Justin Millard, Brad, Loren, and Paul Neumann, Aricka and Austin Millard, Brock Flynn; and great grandchildren Chad and Brea Neumann.
