Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 11:00am at the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Red Lodge, Montana. Rite of Committal will follow in the Red Lodge Cemetery.
Robert "Bob" Payovich, age 55, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2007 at his home in Forsyth MT.
Bob was born May 31, 1952 the son of Robert and Mary Payovich in Red Lodge, MT. He attended school in Roberts and Red Lodge. Bob entered the United States Marine Corps in 1969 and served in the Vietnam War where he suffered a severe leg injury in July 1972 and was medically discharged as a decorated Disabled Veteran receiving the National Defense Purple Heart. Bob married Madge "Choppy" Doran on January 12, 1973 in Red Loge. In 1980 the family moved to Forsyth where Bob worked for Prince, Inc., followed by employment with Rosebud County. In 1994, he went to work for Peabody Coal. Bob eventually lost his leg due to his Vietnam War injury and was forced to retire. Bob spent his remaining years doing what he did best "being there" for his immediate and extended family, especially his sister Toni, to whom he was a constant companion from beginning to end during her courageous battle with cancer.
Bob loved to hunt, fish and enjoyed life to the fullest. He looked forward to his annual elk hunt with his uncles George and Paul and his group of friends from Bemidji, MN and his frequent ice fishing trips back to Bemidji, MN with his son Jarrad. Most recently, Bob especially enjoyed spending time with his first Grandson Konnor. The two of them were essentially "glued at the hip.
Bob was preceded in death by his infant daughter Danielle Payovich, his parents Robert and Mary Payovich, Grandparents Harry and Frances Allen, Grandparent Chris and Mary Payovich, his dearly loved sister Toni Payovich and his very special Uncle Paul Payovich.
Bob is survived by his wife, Madge "Choppy" Payovich of Forsyth; his daughter Darci (Dustin) and their son Hunter of Portland OR; daughter Paula and her son Konnor of Forsythe, MT; and his son Jarrad (Danielle) of Forsyth, MT; his sisters Donna Payovich of Anchorage, AK; Jodi Payovich of Casper, WY; and our special family member Dianne Davis of Casper, WY; his brothers Nickolas (Denise) Brooke, Morgan and Tyler of Anchorage, AK; Mark Payovich and his children Mathew, Miranda, Mark, Skylar and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, especially his cousin Johnny Payovich of Belgrade, MT who were constant companions during their youth including entering into the Marine Corps together.
