Robert Buffington age 81 of Miles City passed away on January 26, 2013. Robert was born on April 19, 1931 in Miles City to Wilton Hale (Fuzzy) Buffington and Opha Murl Kester. He attended schools in Jordan and Cohagen MT. He married Ardella Ady and had 1 child Mary Ellen Ryan.
He served in the Army in 1953-1955 during the Korean War. He operated landing crafts for Inchon invasion. He returned home and went to work for Vaughn Newland moving dirt and building dams.
In 1958 he married Leah Montgomery, of this union 4 children were born, Kelly (Carla) Buffington of Miles City, MT, LeAnn (Nick) Murnion of Glasgow MT, Carson (Teri) Buffington of Glasgow MT, Lisa Buffington of Anaconda MT.
In 1961 he went out on his own. While moving dirt at Oliver Barnes farm he uncovered the jaw bone and nose of a T-Rex.
In 1964 he moved back to the family ranch. He continued to ranch until 1986. At that time he started a trucking business. He drove for several trucking businesses, traveling all over the United States.
Later married Marie, they continued driving truck until his retirement at the age of 81. They resided at Huntley.
At that time he moved closer to Miles City to get help with his medical needs.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, infant sister, Sister Edith Curdy and ½ brother Myron Barnes and infant grandson Dylan Thomas Murnion.
He is survived by five children, Sister Loriene Murnion, Brother Kester Buffington, 11 grandchildren Dusty Buffington, Spike (Kirbye) Buffington, Erin (Colin) McWilliams, Trevor Murnion, Sam (Jason) Link, Sarah Buffington, Steven Belden, Jessica Mehling, Abby Mehling, Billy (Jennifer) Ryan, and Lisa (Ian) Carlson. Great grandchildren Riley, Shawn, Wilton, Paisley, Tiffany, Jace, Raynie, Swayzie, Adyson, Hayden, Bergen, Emery, Reagyn, Maci, Braydan and Liam.
Family will receive friends Thursday, January 31, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Family and friends will meet at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home Friday, February 1, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. to proceed to the Custer County Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. Military Graveside Service.
