Roger Allen Goff, 66, of Miles City passed away Tuesday morning, August 2, 2005 in Miles City after a lengthy struggle with cancer.
Roger was born on July 27, 1939 in Fresno, California, to Charles and Ethlyn Goff. He graduated from Dos Palos High School in 1957. After graduation, Roger joined the Army and served for two years. He married Joann Smith on May 23, 1964. To this union three children were born. Roger attended Fresno State, graduating in 1966, with a degree in agronomy. He then went to work for the Federal Government as an agronomist with the Soil Conservation Service. He chose a job transfer to Miles City, Montana in 1976. Roger retired from the Soil Conservation Service in 1995 as a district soil conservationist. He then took a year off from retirement to decide what he wanted to pursue next. He could not stray far from his love of the soil. He found his next phase of life as a Crop Insurance adjuster. He worked at this from 1996 until the time of his death.
Roger was preceded in death by both parents and a sister, Charlyn Stilliens.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Joann of Miles City; his daughter, Terry Goff of Billings; his son, Brett (Sandy) Goff of Billings; his daughter Cindy (Clyde) Brewer of Melstone; grandsons Justin Brewer, Ryan Brewer, Joshua Goff and Brandon Goff; granddaughter Megan Brewer, also his brother Virgil (Joy) Goff of Sacramento CA; and brother Murvin (Lona) Goff of Rogers AR, and several nieces and nephews. He is survived by many caring friends.
Roger enjoyed fishing and hunting and especially enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his grandkids. Roger was a very straight forward person. If he thought it; he stated it. He will be missed by all that knew him.
Life goes on. Years go by, But precious memories will never die. He's no longer here, our lives to share, But in your heart he's always there
You'll think of him often, the things he did and said,
He never really left you. He just went ahead.
