Roma Olson, 94, died Sunday, February 27, 2011, at her home in Miles City.
Born February 24, 1917, in Tioga, North Dakota, she was the second daughter of James and Lorena (McGuckin) Ferguson. Growing up in Tioga, Roma graduated from high school in 1934 and then moved to Williston, North Dakota. It was there she met Walter Olson, the love of her life, and they were married in June of 1939. They moved to Miles City in 1946 where Mr. Olson was employed with Mountain Bell.
Roma worked for several years at Marie's Gift Shop and then for 8 years at J.C. Penney Company, retiring in 1972. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Telephone Pioneers, and enjoyed volunteering at the Holy Rosary Gift Shop for a number of years. She loved baking, playing cards with friends and spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her kindness and her wonderful sense of humor.
Her survivors include her daughter, Sally Rehbein, of Miles City; two sisters, Dollris Hanson of Minot, North Dakota and Ella Strahan of Tioga North Dakota; two grandchildren, Lisa Jo (Heath) Evans of Colorado Springs CO and Scott (Becky) Rehbein of Miles City; five great-grandchildren, Walter Rehbein, Austin Rehbein, Kelsey Damon, Joelle Evans and Piper Evans; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her parents; and her sister, Noma.
Funeral service to be held Friday, March 4, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City with Pastor Steve Rice officiating. Cremation will take place with interment of ashes in the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City at a later date. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
