Ronald Bromley, age 73, of Florence, MT, formerly of Forsyth

August 23, 1942 – August 13, 2015

Ronald Roy Bromley

1942-2015

FLORENCE – Ronald Roy Bromley, 73, of Florence, MT passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2015 in his home surrounded by his loving family and Partners in Home Care Hospice of Missoula. Ron was born in Helena, MT on April 23, 1942 to Katherine Bromley and Bill Lothrope. He was raised in Rosebud, MT by his loving grandparents who taught him the value of hard work and honesty. Ron worked on various farms and ranches while attending Rosebud High school, from which he graduated in 1960.

Ron was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy. His lifelong occupation was in Law Enforcement in Rosebud County for 31 years, where he was well liked and respected.

In March of 1960, Ron Married Sharron Reid of Rosebud and to this union they had two daughters, Jaci (Smiley) Smith, and Brenda (Matt) Marden. They were later divorced.

On July 2, 1983, Ron married his high School friend, Claira Fahrenbruck Holmes. This marriage added three more to his family, Debbra Rice, Mark (Patti) Holmes, and Sheri (Rod) Stroppel. Ron and Claira also raised two grandsons, Sean and Jackson Rice, whom they adopted in 2014.

In 2001, Ron and Claira moved to the beautiful Bitterroot Valley to be closer to their grandchildren. They loved their new home, and Ron always took pride in his beautiful yard. Ron’s family was his pride and joy, which included his children, and his many grandchildren, Robert Woelich, Niki Harstad, Alex Child, Chaunci Rowan, Talia Buck, Anthony and Brent Stroppel, Sean and Jackson Rice, his two great-granddaughters, Ariauna Barrus and Kinsley Rownan, and his three step-great-grandchildren, Hunter, Gunner, and Tymber Child.

Ron was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, and his brother, Gary Morer; and his brother-in-law, Dee Cherry.

Ron is survived by his wife, Claira; his two daughters, Jaci and Brenda; his step-daughters, Sheri and Debra; his step-son, Mark; and his only sister, Donna Cherry.

Pastor David Blackwell will be officiating an open house reception for our friends and family at the Bromley home at 183 Courtyard Way Florence, Mt. on Sunday, August 16th from 4-6:00 pm and a funeral service will be held in Ron’s home town of Forsyth, MT. on August 22 beginning at 1:00.  It will be held at Stevenson’s and Son’s Funeral Home, 245 West Wind Lane, Forsyth, Mt.

To our dear Jaci and Justin , Clara and family, Our thoughts and prayers have been with you during this hard time. We know how much Ron was loved. It was so nice when Ron and Clara visited us in our home. Every year when it was time to put the air conditioner in the window I thought of Ron and wished he was here to help me once again! We will remember him fondly and pray for the family.

    Jaci & Brendi,
So sorry to hear about your dad. I remember spending many nights at the Bromley house growing up and he was always happy to have a batch of kids running around, even if he pretended he didn’t 🙂 . I will be thinking of you both and your families.

Although very sad that Mr Bromley has passed to glory, for those of us who knew this fine gentleman, we should be honored that he was our friend. Though it has been some years since I have spoken with Ron, I remember well the times that we had great conversations. I always respected this man for his professionalism and integrity.

I can remember when I was in school during his rounds officer Bromley always made time to stop and talk to the children. He said he was trying to.educate us on the true meaning of law enforcement. The world needs more officers like him. He was a great man and will be missed.

Ron was a person who could get along with everyone and he will be missed by a great many. We are glad to have had him as a friend. I am sure he is with Jim Schiffer watching for and putting out fires. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
