Ronald Wayne Brumfield, passed away peacefully of Rosebud County Health Center on November 27, 2024. He was 77 years old.
Ron was born in Nampa, Idaho, to Clyde and LaVerne Brumfield. He was raised with his half-brother, Richard West in Forsyth, MT.
He grew up playing in the south side of Forsyth. He and his cousin, Jeannie (Seliski) Were especially close and that continued throughout their entire life. You could say they were joined at the hip.
He and his friend, Pat Welters became life long friends. Ron and Pat would hang out at uncle Tony (Seliski) garage and soon a passion for cars, especially fast cars was born. This began a lifelong journey of classic mustangs. He would also help his dad, Clyde, do his traplines. Many hours were spent preparing the beaver pelts.
He attended Forsyth High School and he worked hard and became a champion wrestler. He graduated and got a scholarship to attend Custer County Junior College in 1965.
He enlisted in the US Navy in 1968. He was trained as an electrical technician and torpedoman and was honorably discharged in 1971.
After returning to Forsyth, he was hired out on the Burlington Northern Railroad and soon becoming an engineer and served for over 30+ years making many friends over the years.
Once retired, he remained very close with Jeannie and her husband, Kevin Hullinger and they have many adventures and created many fond memories.
Another great friendship- began when Todd Macioroski got hired on BNSF and they became great car buddies and that led to a mutual love of classic “muscle” cars. With Ron being the “Ford” Guy and Todd the “Chevy” Guy.
He is preceded in death by both his parents, Clyde and LaVerne Brumfield; his half brother, Richard West.
Ron is survived by his cousin, Jeannie (Kevin) Hullinger and and their daughter Brandi Gagnon and grandchildren Jaiden and Marcos; nephews, Tim (Kim) West, Kurt (Tracie) West, Mitch (Jill) West; and sister-in-law, Myrna West and many grand nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Life in Spring of 2025 with several of his classic cars displayed and all his awesome friends and family.

Kris Crosby says
As a kid, my earliest memories of Ron were of talking to him as he worked on his Harley alongside the Shelton brothers, in a small garage off the alley between 6th & 7th Avenue. My final memories of Ron were of talking to him while we worked on cars together, in a big garage off the alley, just one block from where we first met.
When my Dad passed away, I spent many evenings hanging out with Ron, working on cars and talking. It was therapeutic and helped keep me sane. I always looked forward to seeing him whenever I made it back to Forsyth.
I will miss him.

Rest in peace my friend. You taught me more about running a train than anyone. I looked up to you and developed your desire to help others. I liked to teach and taught many young engineers. To many old gandys leaving our railroad family.

Ron and I just shared memories of being from the “south side” of the tracks and we agreed that that was the best place! As a younger south side, I was mesmerized by the little western town he had in the ally. He said his Dad said, “Isn’t that enough??!!” Ron just told him, “One more.” What a great place to grow up. Ron was ONE of a KIND! He will be missed!
