Ronald George Kiosse, age 64, of Terry, passed away on April 4, 2014 at the Holy Rosary Health Center in Miles City surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was called the poster child for glioblastoma multiforme because he survived it for such a long time.
Ron was born on September 2, 1949 in Miles City to William & Shirley (Hom) Kiosse and was the oldest of five siblings. His childhood was spent on the family ranch. Ron attended the first grade in Miles City and attended the rest of his grade school at country school that was a short walk for him daily. He graduated from Powder River High School in Broadus in 1967 and then went on to Miles Community College. Ron married Cyndy Young in 1969; to this union they had a daughter Amber in 1972 and a son Jade in 1975. He worked for the Miles City Fire Department, laid carpet with Russ Martin, delivered Coca Cola and also played in a band. Ron married the love of his life Cindy Kuchynka in 1980. Ron & Cindy moved to Townsend shortly after they got married where Ron was a manager of the Cenex for several years until his job moved them to Terry. They were blessed with their daughter Ashley in 1987. In their 33 years of marriage, Ron and Cindy did everything together. One of their most memorable times was one of their trips to Duke University when they stopped in Washington D.C. to do some sight-seeing with their very good friends Larry & Cindy Bond. Cindy lovingly nursed Ron’s health issues during his entire illness. Ron was a wonderful salesman. He worked for Mac’s Frontierland for several years. He worked as a manager of John Deere in Miles City for a short time as well. He was also a correctional officer for the Pine Hills Juvenile Center until he had to retire. He also operated his own auction business for years. Ron was in the National Guard. He was Prairie County Sportsman Club President, Chamber President, was a member of the Eagles and NRA. Ron was a Terry councilman for 16 years, and up until his death, the Mayor of Terry for nearly five years. Ron was an avid sportsman. He loved to go hunting and fishing. Watching football was his favorite past time. He was accepted into a clinical trial as a patient of Duke University because of his illness. Ron loved going to Duke because they called him a “famous man” and treated him like royalty because he was the Mayor of Terry. He and Cindy also sat courtside at a Duke Blue Devils basketball game. He was given a ball cap signed by Coach K. which he wore with pride. Ron was a proud grandfather of two grandsons, Connor and Brady, who he taught how to shoot. Over the years he enjoyed making several memorable trips to see his children. He took trips to see Amber & Jade in Washington and Oregon and traveled to see Ashley in Bozeman (where they went to many Bobcat football games) and Arizona. With his family he enjoyed going on a Disney Cruise, to Disney Land, several Trailblazers NBA games, Seahawks games, and most recently to see his two favorite NFL teams play each other, the Vikings at Seahawks. He also texted his kids and grandkids every Friday to inquire about their weekend plans.
Ron is survived by his wife Cindy of Terry, daughter Amber (Patrick) Gagnon and their children Connor & Brady of Ridgefield, WA; son Jade of Astoria, OR; daughter Ashley of Phoenix, AZ; his mother Shirley Ottoy of Miles City; a brother Doug (Paula) of Miles City; his sisters: Chris (Dennis) Young of Miles City, Shari (Brad) Poulos of Fort Worth, TX and Lora (Kevin) Fuqua of Muleshoe, TX; his mother and father-in-law Hank & Shirley Kuchynka; his brothers-in-law: Larry (Rhea) Kuchynka and Gary (Jeanne) Kuchynka; his sisters-in-law: Sandra (Jim Cook) Pearcy, Kathy (Scott) Pering; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father William and his grandparents.

Rebecca Kane and Joe Purkett says
Dearest Cindy, Amber, Jade, Ashley,
We know Ron’s leaving this earth and those he loved, is so hard on all of those loved ones who remain. This will be an adjustment~~to go on with your lives without him. There are many wonderful things to be grateful for though, and these will fill your heart and your minds and wrap you in comfort in the days and months ahead. You have wonderful memories of a good man, who had such a great smile and laugh. He had so many interests, and especially held his family very high on that list of interests that were dearest to him. Ron’s immediate family, extended family, and close friends supported him to the utmost over the past 3+ years, even if it could just be in thoughts and prayers at times. Cindy, I tell you again, how I admire your strength, courage, and constant presence throughout all of Ron’s illness, and you both continued to have fun times. Our love to you all, and many prayers and hugs. Becky and Joe Purkett
