On the morning of March 27th,2024, Red passed away due to natural causes at Rosebud Healthcare Center while being attended by excellent staff members.  Ronald was 90 years old.

He was born on April 8th,1933 in Rankin, Illinois to Earl and Violet (Kelley) Allison being the oldest son.

Red was raised on a farm and enjoyed animals, trapping, hunting and the outdoors. He attended school in Illinois, was a semi-truck driver and met Martha Jane Johnson at her Aunt’s café in Wolcott, Indiana. They married on May 19th, 1956, and from this 67-year marriage came William (Marie) of Wheatland, WY, Cheryl Allison (Forsyth, MT) and Cindy (Mathias Erhardt) of Mandan, ND. They set up a home and a welding shop -where he developed/ patented and made a lot of mini harrows in Wolcott, IN.

In 1967, the family moved to Redstone, CO where Red worked in an underground coal mine. His sense of adventure and mining career took the family to Ekalaka, MT in 1968 where Red worked in Belle Creek, WY at a gas pumping station as a welder. The family headed to Cedar Rapids, IA in 1969 as he was employed at a nuclear power plant. In Oct. 1973 the mining path took the family to Forsyth, MT where he worked construction at the Colstrip MT power plants as a boilermaker.  In 1976-May 1977 Red, Martha and Cindy lived in Upton, Wy. Ronald retired from Boilermakers Local #83 and Local #11 settled back in Forsyth, MT.

Throughout his life Ronald enjoyed fishing, bird watching, hunting and dousing. He enjoyed traveling and reading, and watching the grandchildren play sports. He was a free thinker and wasn’t afraid of challenging others for his political rights. Flying to Alaska to caribou hunt with his friend Melvin, camping with his fishing canoe were a few of his favorite memories. He began riding his Goldwing at the age of 70. Red did enjoy his daily crossword puzzles.

Survivors include his wife Martha Jane (Johnson) and 3 children. Bill and Cheryl…My condolences on your loss. It doesn’t matter how long are parents live, it’s still a challenge for us when they’re gone. I know you must have many memories of your dad. Remembering the good times helps to ease the grief. Take care, Mark (FHS ’74)
