Ronald “Ron” Raymond Malloy
On October 9th, surrounded by his children, Ron passed away peacefully at Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City, Montana. He was 80 years old. Ron was born in Butte, America on November 9th, 1943 to Raymond and Mary Malloy.
Ron was very proud of being born and raised in Butte. He often told stories of his childhood antics and fighting that were representative of Butte, America. He had knuckles to prove it! Ron grew up surrounded by a large tight-knit extended family. An instrumental part of his childhood was playing sports and spending time with cousins and friends. Mining culture ran deep in his family and his Butte blood will live on. Ron hunted, fished, camped, and enjoyed all things outdoors. This love of the outdoors was passed down to his children and grandchildren.
Ron graduated from Butte High and then enlisted in the Navy. He proudly served and spoke highly of his time in Hawaii and Japan. Serving others then became a consistent theme throughout his life. Following his Navy service, Ron married the love of his life Rosemary Hensleigh. Ron and Rosemary had four children: Michelle, Mark, Brad, and Scott. He was always focused on providing a good life for his family- he always put his family first. Ron graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in business management. From then on, he was a diehard Griz football fan and was often seen donning the Griz maroon. Go Griz!
Ron was an entrepreneur at heart and had many business ventures throughout his life. Helping others was important to him, volunteering countless hours to youth sports, individuals with developmental disabilities, and veterans. He received numerous awards and honors for his volunteering. Ron was a jokester and frequently played pranks on those around him and enjoyed a good laugh all around.
Ron loved his family more than anything. After he had children, Ron became Catholic. His faith was very important to him and helped him through difficult times in life. He was so proud of his children and the people they have become. He loved his 13 grandchildren and smiled ear to ear whenever they were around. Fishing frequently with his grandchildren was a favorite of his. For the most part he was patient with lost hooks, getting skunked, and inpatient children. Ron loved to play games, especially pinochle and cribbage. His love of games has been passed down to his children and grandchildren. Ron, like most, enjoyed golf but was never very good. The annual golf outing with his sons was hopefully more fun than frustrating. Ron was athletic and a great bowler; he won several tournaments and was a top bowler in his leagues. Traveling to visit family was a joy. He looked forward to his many trips to see his sister in California, travels to see his children and grandchildren, and the annual Malloy Lake House trips. We are forever grateful to his family at Holy Rosary Residential Living and the care, love, and respect they provided Ron in the last few years of his life. He spoke often of the bingo games, coffee time, outings, and laughs he shared.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Mary, and his sister Donna Rae.
Ron is survived by his daughter Michelle Kaiser of Bozeman (Husband-Russ and Children- Rachel, Matthew, Jessica), son Mark Malloy of Miles City (Wife-Molly and Children-Lauren, Gabriel, Maddox, Andrew, and Ava), son Brad Malloy of Livingston, (Wife- Jenny, Children- Emma, Grace, and Luke), and son Scott Malloy of Bozeman (Wife-Maria and Children-Cristian and Isabella).
In lieu of flowers, please honor our dad by letting your loved ones know you love them: give them a hug, schedule quality time, laugh, love, and always put family first.

To the Malloy family,
Your dad was a big football fan and sports booster. When I would run into him around town or at a church function, he would always bring up a play or plays that I made during the game. He was always so positive and great to talk with about the game. He was very gracious and kind. This was shown through his children which came full circle when I got a chance to coach one of the boys. I went to school with the other two boys and not a bad word to say about them through growing up together. My sincere condolences to all of the family.

We are so sorry to hear about Ron. He was such a great help with the AAU Wrestling club. Ron was a great Coach plus he was a lot of help in all areas of the program. We knew we could always count on the Malloys for help. All three boys were state champions in AAU Wrestling. I will never forget how excited Ron was when we won the first AAU State team title for our Miles City AAU Club. REST IN PEACE my friend.

Ronald is my older cousin. I also grew up with him in Butte. He was always so caring and nice. He was always so fun; I remember laughing so hard with him on many different occasions. I can still hear hear his voice.
When he returned from Japan, he brought me a beautiful black jewelry box with beautiful paintings on it. It also plays music. I still have it and keep some nice jewelry in it. I couldn’t believe that he thought of me like that when he was in the military.
But that was Ronald. ♥️
