Rose Danniel Berry Harris (90), beloved mother and grandmother, died Tuesday, November 7th at Sidney Health Center, with her daughter, Connie, by her side– after a battle with Lewy Body Dementia.
Rose was born on June 17, 1927, in Buffalo Wyo., the daughter of Kenneth and Frances (Horn) Danniel. The family lived in the Black Hills, South Dakota. She later lived with her sister, Dolly, in Montana, where she met Lee Berry of Jordan, who she married on February 8, 1946. Together, they created a very happy life and raised four daughters on a ranch in the Missouri River breaks near Landusky. They later ranched at Christina, before moving to Lewistown where Rose enjoyed her consignment shops–the last one called Second Hand Rose.
Rose was a loving mother and grandmother–always putting her family’s needs first and cherished times when her whole family could be together. Rose enjoyed gardening, flowers, writing poetry, antiques, dancing, and taking walks with her dear friend Helen Berger. Her door was always open to friends and family, and her grandchildren can attest that she always had a treat hidden in the cookie jar. Never one to pass by a friend, she always had a kind word and a quick joke ready for anyone she came across. Later in life, she lived with childhood-friend and husband, Gordan Harris, in Meridian, ID, before her health brought her to live in Sidney for three years with daughter Connie and Roy Milroy.
Rose is survived by: her daughters, Sharyn Wallace, Great Falls, MT, Judy Fossum, Moore, MT, Connie (Roy) Milroy, Sidney, MT, and Margie Berry, Moore, MT; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and brothers, Francis Danniel, Napa, CA, and Wilbur “Sonny” (Gloria) Bruce, Rapid City, SD.
Rose was preceded in death by: her parents; husbands, Lee Berry and Gordan Harris; three sisters; one brother; granddaughter, Michelle; son-in-law, Garry; and sister-in-law, Roberta Danniel.
