Rose Marie Carpenter, age 72, of Miles City passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at the Holy Rosary Health Center in Miles City.
Rose was born on March 17, 1935 in Manton, Michigan, the daughter of Walter and Caroline Hirdning. Rose and her late husband Louis Carpenter Sr. were married on April 21, 1958 and had five children. Together with their children, they moved to Miles City in 1974. She was a homemaker, staying home to care for her children and grandchildren. Once her children were older she was employed at the Miles City Cab as a dispatcher, Red Rock Motel and Cafe as a cook and house keeping, and she retired from Flying J in 1981.
Watching game shows was Roses favorite pastime. Whenever you were at her house you would find her watching channel 69, the GSN. She also enjoyed Little House on the Prairie re-runs, Food Network and the Price is Right. She never missed an episode. Rose also enjoyed the game of Baseball. Her favorite team was the Detroit Tigers, her husband andher watched the games together, cheering them on. Rose was a wonderful caring and loving grandma. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to go on drives with her husband Louis. They would sit and watch people on the corner by Big Sky Pharmacy. She also looked forward to the Christmas Season and driving around looking at all the beautiful lights. Rose loved to cook, everything was made from scratch. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She was a very independent woman and was not one to want others to worry about her. She was always looking out for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends. She did everything she could to help and encourage them in their lives. She was always there no matter what. Rose enjoyed thunderstorms and the smell of the air when it rained.
Rose is survived by her sister, LolaHirdning, brothers Terry Hirdning, Wallace Hirdning and William BillHirdning; children: Bonnie and LindaHirdning of Michigan, Carol Johnson of Miles City, Tina (Dwayne) Bruce of Miles City, Louis Jr. (Carmen) Carpenter of Bear Lake, MI, Kim (Mike) Neibauer of Miles City and Billy Joe (Jodi) Carpenter of Cadillac, MI, her grandchildren: Candy Carpenter, Harold Pete Woehl, Samantha (Jeff) Cookman, Raymond (Tara) Emeline, Andy, Mick and Josette Neibauer, Corey Bruce and Heather and Allen Carpenter, Great-grandchildren, Dominic and Cole Emeline and Christopher Cookman. Unborn great-grandchildren: Olivia Cookman, and twins James and Julianna Emeline. She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. & Mrs. WalterHirdning, her husband Louis James Sr. and great granddaughters Katie Rae and Erika Rose Emeline.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 6, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will be held at a later date. Should friends desire, condolences can be sent to the family by way of Candy Carpenter, 416 S. Montana, Miles City, MT 59301.
