Rose Marie (Hughes) Lehner, age 87, of Jordan passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 in Billings.
Rose was born on June 25, 1936 at home in Dilo, Montana. She joined Raymond, Sylvia and Warren, then later Sarah and Carol joined the family. She attended the Dilo Country School. She then attended Garfield County High School, graduating in 1954. On March 3, 1954 she married Ervin Lehner. To this union six children were born: Raymond, Ralph, Rhonda, Randy, Ross and Rosene. Robert was adopted later. They lived on the Lehner Ranch till Mary Lehner moved to town, then they bought the ranch. In 1982 they bought a house on the edge of Jordan.
Rose started the first craft shop in Jordan. It was in the old shoe shop after the shoe shop was sold and she moved it to the old Baan Wille store. After Ervin passed away in 2008 of cancer, Rose has lived alone. Rose carried the Brusett mail route from July of 1977 for 30 years.
Rose is survived by six children, 18 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Erwin Lehner, her dad Bill Hughes, mother Ruby Johnson Hughes, one sister Sarah, two brothers Raymond and Warren Hughes, brother-in-law Lewis Anderson and James Ippisch, sister-in-law Beverly Hughes, a son Raymond and a son-in-law Chris Hurd.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pioneer Cemetery in Jordan. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.
