In Memory Of

Rose Tusler

Visitation: Friday, April 22, 2005 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Funeral services: Saturday, April 23, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Terry.

Interment: will follow in the family lot of the Prairie County Cemetery in Terry

Rose Mathilda Tusler (83) went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at Deaconess Hospital in Billings after a short illness.

She was born August 15, 1921 atOlanda, Montana to August and Bertha (Sabrowski) Martin. Rose attended Pleasant Ridge School near Olanda. After leaving Olanda, Rose moved to Harlowton, Montana where she worked at a restaurant. Returning to Terry; she worked for Bob and Ann Empey who had a ranch that neighbored the Tusler homestead. This is where she and Lester met. They were married in Terry, Mt on June 8, 1941 and ranched on the home place from 1941 till 1979 at which time they retired and moved into Terry. While living on the ranch Rose and Lester also enjoyed hosting many family gatherings. In the early years they used to move out the furniture and the family would dance. They also enjoyed playing cards, square dancing, fishing, camping, agate hunting and making agate jewelry.

In 1979 Rose and Lester retired from the ranch and moved into Terry. At that time they became active members of the Terry Senior Center. Rose served as Assistant Director and Assistant Cook as well as serving on the Center board and the Council on Aging. Rose loved playing cards, dinners, dancing and visiting with friends at the center.

Roses hands were never idle. She had many hobbies which included, tatting, embroidery, hand quilting, knitting, spinning yarn on her mothers spinning wheel, crafts of all kinds, playing the banjo, gardening and canning. Her garden was admired by many and her specialty was strawberries which she sold to the local grocery store. She was known as the family historian. Rose kept very accurate and detailed information on all family members.

Over the years Rose had been a member of the Ash Creek Homemakers, TOPS, and the Terry Presbyterian Church.

Rose is survived by Lester, her husband of 63 years. She is also survived by her two sons; Glen (Leola) of Helena and Kurt (Candy) of Spokane, Washington. Five granddaughters also survive. They are Leslie (Kris) Stauffer of Richland, Washington, Michelle (Mike)Burman of Missoula, Cindy (Jeff)McAdam of Boston, JacindaTusler of Spokane and Jessica (Mark) Lee of Chicago. Rose also was great-grandma to Stephanie and Brittany Burman and Jordan and Matthew Stauffer.
Rose is also survived by two sisters, Vena Hoagland of Miles City and Emily Carpenter of Spokane, Washington. Many nieces and nephews also survive their Aunt Rose.

Besides her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her brothers,and sisters: Herb, Fred, and Art Martin, Edith Tusler, Mildred Trask and Bernice Rohrdanz.

Funeral services for Rose Tusler will be held at the Terry Presbyterian Church at Terry at 1PM Saturday, April 23, 2005. Memorials to the Terry Presbyterian Church or the Terry Senior Center are suggested.
