Rosella Crystal Woodenthigh (Meohnesta hee) (Morning Caller) was tragically taken from us on May 5, 2008.
She was born on June 17, 1976 as Crystal Renee Little Mouth to Kitty Belle Little Mouth and Pete Morgan. She was adopted by Lillian and Teddy Woodenthigh at the tender age of six months and was raised in the Ashland area, attending schools at St. Labre and Colstrip later graduating from Lame Deer High School in 1997. In her early years she was given the nickname Rasta RoseShe was previously employed with St. Labre and JustUs Inn in Ashland, also at the B.I.A. Forestry in Lame Deer and Bennett County School District in Martin, S.D. . She did home care temporarily. Her last employment was with the Chicken Coop in Lame Deer.
Rosella enjoyed her art work. She performed Fancy Shawl dance in her younger years. She would make outfits and took pride and joy in them. She truly loved the family tradition of playing hand game. She began at a very young age traveling with her parents, family and friends to numerous states for tournaments. She loved caring for her nephews and nieces but her true love was for her three children. She was a very proud mother.
Rosella was loved and well liked everywhere she went. She was a social butterfly loving to visit with friends and family and willing to help with whatever anyone needed.
She was preceded in death by both her biological parents and her adopted parents; brothers Sam Powell and Peter Morgan, Jr. and a cousin Marcella Crazy Mule.
She is survived by her son T.J. Woodenthigh of Crow Agency, daughter Reileithia Woodenthigh of Heart Butte, MT and baby son Keyson Avery Big Hawk of Rabbit Town, MT. Also surviving is her companion, Sam Big Hawk III of Lame Deer; Special Nephews Virgil (Nakia) Weasel Bear and Sam Powell-Pickett, Special Nieces; Lacie and Myra Woodenthigh; Brothers; Victor, Melvin (Elvira) Joseph (Emily), Waylon McArthur, Forsyth, MT., Shawn (Denise) Morgan of Browning, MT; Sisters; Anna of CA., Juanita (Rich), Germaine (Monte), Iola (Boog), Sonja McArthur, Golden, CO., Clara Woodenthigh & Theda Foote of Lame Deer, Vanessa and Patricia Morgan of Yakima, WA and Roberta Rattler of Browning, MT; Cousins; LeeAnn, Valoria, Baby Anna, Nadine and Herman Weaselbear;Cory Morgan of Browning and Connie (Panzie)Weaselbear of Pine Ridge SD Adopted Sisters; Tracey Vivar & Rhoda Glenmore; Close Friends; Clara Ann, Rita, Lelia and Alethia Crazy Mule, and Nancy Jean; Adopted mother Inez Wilson; Aunts; Elsie Weasel Bear, Mary and Wilma Shoulderblade, Linda Brady, and Lenora Wolfname; Grandmothers; Martha Wolfname, Fern Shoulderblade and Anna Mae Ryan; Uncles Hubert Bearchum, Ernest Little Mouth, Tony, Rick, Gary and Hank Wolfname and Lloyd Yellowrobe and a Grandfather Van Ryan, Sr.She is also survived by 28 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews as well as extended families Weasel Bears of South Dakota, Wolfnames, Little Mouths, Morgans of Browning, Shoulderblades, Medicine Tops, Bearchums, Ryans, Rednecks, Spotted Elks, Crazy Mule, Sanchez, Little Birds, Picketts, Sandcranes and Blackwolfs.She also leaves behind all of her handgame playing friends. She played her last Senior Handgame Tournament this year and will now be playing with Mom and Dad, Robert and Rose, AnnaJoyce and Harriet, John and Loretta, Lillian and Joe, Lloyd and Margaret, Archie and Paul along with all the other greats who crossed over to the next camp.
