Rosemary Ebert, age 96, passed away on December 1, 2021 with Mary Jo beside her at Parkview Caring Assisted Living in Miles City.
Born Rosemary Monica Gotz, September 4, 1925 in Miles City to Benedict and Mary Rosalie (Lenertz) Gotz. She attended grade school at Sacred Heart and received her first Holy Communion on May 14, 1933. She went on to graduate from Sacred Heart High School in 1944. In 1946, Rosemary attained her Montana Teacher’s Permit and taught at the Morton School in Carter County. She later attended telegraphers’ school and accepted a job with the Milwaukee Railroad in Calder, Idaho.
Rosemary and Alfred John Ebert were married while he was on leave from the U.S. Army Air Corps. After his discharge and living in Great Falls, they adopted their one and only, a son John Benedict Ebert, who was five months old. After the couple divorced, Rosemary didn’t let loss hamper her future. With the help of her brother, Bob, she opened a home to others in need by fostering handicapped adults, who were employed at EMI. She continued in foster care until 1995.
Rosemary had a deep love for her Catholic faith. She was instrumental in starting the Fatima Rosary Group. She belonged to St. Josephs Circle and the Little Flower Study Club. She contributed and was involved in the Ursaline Convent. Passionate about antiques, Rosemary operated an Antique Shop out of her home in South Gate Meadows. Upon her brother Bob’s death, she no longer needed to be concerned about money issues. Bob saw that Rosemary would be financially independent until the evening she left this world. Her heart was big and she enjoyed sharing with the less fortunate, sometimes to a fault, as she often enabled people to continue in destructive life styles. In her last years on earth, Rosemary acquired another family. As she loved those at Parkview Caring, they loved her in return. Happiness and contentment were hers while living there. In addition, they embraced her beloved son Johnny with kindness and care.
Rosemary is survived by her son Johnny Ebert. She was preceded in death by her parents Dick and Mary Gotz and her brother Bob.
Burial will be in the Custer County Cemetery next to her brother Robert. Services are pending at this time.
