Roy Huft, age 55, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Saint Vincent Hospital in Billings.
Roy was born November 13, 1963 to Eugene Alfred Huft and Elvina Marie Huft in Mobridge, South Dakota. He attended a country school for elementary and High School in Isabel. Roy married Debbie Wiedmer June 3, 1983. Beau Dean was born in 1984, Philip Roy in 1985, and Bryce Jacob in 1986. The first years of marriage Roy worked for Miller Construction and help on the Huft Family ranch. In 1985 they moved to Ottumwa, South Dakota and worked for the Hickman Ranch. In August of 1992 the family moved to Ismay, Montana and worked for Keystone Ranches. While there, in 1994 Tyrel EuGene was born. In the fall of 1998, the family moved 5 miles west of Ismay and began working for Hofmann Ranch.
Roy loved to hunt and a lot of stories were told, from flying shooting coyotes to chasing that allusive big buck. Roy’s boys and grandchildren were his pride and joy. The grandkids often asked Grandma to make Grandpa behave himself. Roy loved to hay and take care of cattle. He also enjoyed volunteering with the Ismay Rural Fire Department for several years. Roy loved the ranch life and loved his family and raising them on the ranch.
Roy is survived by his loving wife Debbie; his sons: Beau (Hope) granddaughters Tylee and Oaklee; Phillip (Andrea) grandsons Cade, Colter Cuyler and Chantz; Bryce (Jenna) grandchildren Bentley and Amelia; Tyrel (Jalyn); his sisters: Robin (Ron) Gray and Donna (Alan) Pisel; brother Wesley (Diane) Huft; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents EuGene and Elvina and a brother Bentley.

I came to Montana as a troubled young kid. Roy taught me a lot about family, work ethic and staying humble, and how to laugh during tough times. I wouldn’t be where I am today without his patience and kindness. The world is a lesser place without him. I am forever greatful for the Huft family. And am truly sorry for your loss.
Love you all,
Ross

Dear Debbie and Family, When I think of Roy, I think of him always being a gentlemen to a sassy boss’ kid (me!). I think of his laugh, of him riding out across the Askin place (knowing he’d have sections gathered before I had peddled my horse a few acres). I think of him dancing with you, Debbie. I recall the closeness he had with his boys (buying guns and having the best of times simply by being together). I can’t wrap my head around his passing, and pray that Jesus would hold you tight.
