Roy Manning Whitney was born in Miles City, October 26, 1931 to P.V. and Dorothy Whitney. Roy was a very genuine person.
When he was 17 years old, he left home and joined the Air Force. There he worked air planes. He spent most of that time in Texas. Upon his returning home, he worked in Billings, for the Grand Hotel (General Custer). Later he and brother, Don, ran a service station.
He married Stella Breshears and of this marriage, three children were born, twin girls, Colleen and Kathleen and a son, Mark. He was very hardworking, honest, reliable, and caring to a fault. Roy was very caring and loving. He would help anyone with anything and was proud of his accomplishments.
They divorced and later married Agnus Doney. Roy worked for Jack Black, as a house painter for several years. Also, he held various jobs with: Hallett Mineral, Peabody Coal, and the Steam Plant in Colstrip. While at Hallett and Peabody, he lived on the family farm and raised potatoes. They were very good and the family was extremely proud of them. The record potato weighed in at an amazing 5 ½ pounds.
Roy later moved into Forsyth. To keep himself busy, he raised rabbits as well as doing fine job remodeling his family’s home.

To Roy’s family….we were so saddened to hear of Roy’s passing. When I first moved to Forsyth and met Roy he would always call me Cheryl. Then one day he said “I’ve been calling you Cheryl all of this time and here your name is Carol”…and I said “well, Roy actually my name is Teryl” and he said ”I’ll never remember that so I will just call you Miss T.”…..And that he did! I always enjoyed visiting with Roy and will miss seeing him. Our thoughts and prayers to his family. Wade Cole and Teryl (Miss T) Tatro
