Roy Everett Stinebaugh, 88, lifelong farmer and rancher of Jordan, passed away on June 3, 2013, at the Garfield County Health Center in Jordan.
Roy was born on August 30, 1924, at the family ranch northwest of Jordan, to Edwin and Elizabeth Stockton Stinebaugh. He grew up on the ranch, graduating from Garfield County High School in 1942. In 1944 Roy enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving as a private first class. He spent most of the next 2 years in the Philippine Islands as part of the Pacific Theater.
On September 1, 1950, Roy married Freda Nordahl in Miles City, and together they farmed and ranched for the next 62 years. They had 2 daughters, Shelley and Rhonda.
How do you say good-bye to such a kind and caring man who loved his family dearly and dedicated his life to them. Roy loved to tell stories about the good old days with good friends like Kenny Fogle, always with a good dose of humor. Roy was a tender-hearted man, who was especially fond of little children and the Christmas season. He treasured his ranch, cattle and garden. Some of the best years of his life were spent with his grandson Ken Ryan, working the ranch.
Roy was a member of the Community Bible Church of Jordan.
Roy was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Burrell, Lloyd and Frank and 2 sisters, Edith MacDonald and Esther Hedstrom.
Roy is survived by his wife, Freda, of Jordan; 2 daughters, Shelley (Tom) Ryan of Jordan and Rhonda Mothershead of Wittmann, Arizona; 4 grandchildren, Ken Ryan and Chevell (Kent) South of Jordan, Melanie (Rob) Brown of Great Falls and Ashley Mothershead of Alexandria, Virginia; 7 great-grandchildren, Ross Ryan, Brynn Ryan, Rachel Ryan, Samantha South, Jake South and Kortni South, all of Jordan, and Jane Brown of Great Falls; 3 sisters, Shirley (Jack) Gruber of Santa Maria, California, Bertha Langemo of Miles City and Nell Johnson of Jordan; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenny and Alice Fogle of Jordan, and a special nephew, Jack (Sharon) Hedstrom of Miles City, a sister-in-law, Margit Laws of Eagle Creek, OR and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held at the ranch at a later date. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Jordan is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.

Dear Family and Friends of Roy Everett Stinebaugh – reading about Mr. Stinebaugh’s life was interesting and it must have been a joy to know him. The loss of every human life is significant to me and should be valued by all. The Bible book of Hebrews reminds us that God does not forget all of the love and fine works shown by his servants (Heb 6:10). It was not God’s original purpose that mankind should suffer and die. At creation God was able to say that everything was “very good” (Gen 1:31). Death and imperfection was introduced through Adam’s disobedience (Genesis 2:17) and inherited by all mankind. Jesus’ sacrifice of his human life on earth again gave us hope of everlasting life and soon death will be no more (Revelation 21:4). Hopefully, faith in these Bible promises will ease the pain from this loss. Because of these promises we have reason to be hopeful and look forward to seeing Mr. Stinebaugh again in perfect health under Paradise conditions as was originally given to mankind in the Garden of Eden. We are also promised that the pain that we now experience with this loss “will not be called to mind.” (Isaiah 65:17) Meanwhile we can to continue take in Bible knowledge that gives us comfort and hope (John 17:3).

Dear Freda and Family
Sent a message earlier but it doesn’t seem to be showing up anywhere so will try again.
So very sorry to learn of Roy’s passing. Each time I saw him he would invite me to come out and see where my dad grew up. Seems like in this fast paced world one rarely gets to do alll of the things that you would like to do or plan on doing. I was hoping that I could get out this year when I come down with the boys to go fishing. I’m so very sorry that I didn’t get it done sooner. Sarah and I send our most heartfelt thoughts and prayers to you and the family . God bless you and help you through this difficult time.
Most sincerely——-Dick and Sarah
