Ruby E. Keniv was born on September 5, 1935, in Miles City, MT to Evelyn (Bartsch) and Clarence Green and passed peacefully surrounded by her family on May 5, 2023.
Ruby attended school in Miles City and graduated from Custer County District High School in 1954. She was one of the lucky few who maintained lifelong friendships with her classmates, and she looked forward to their monthly luncheons. She cherished her weekly phone calls and regular visits from her friend Sally McKee of Indiana.
Ruby married Paul Keniv on May 1, 1955, in Miles City, MT. To this marriage they were blessed with 3 children, 3 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Along with spending time with her family, she enjoyed dancing with Dad, sewing, crafting, reading, flower gardening, and shopping (as many could tell you, she had many matching purses and shoes to show for it). Ruby devoted her life to her family. She was a wonderful wife, mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved the holidays, and you could always find family and friends gathered at the family home.
Ruby is survived by her daughter Carol (Walter) Nelson of Helena, daughter Sheila (Ed) Rickett of Miles City, and son Gary Keniv of Missoula. Granddaughter Michelle (Rick) Williamson and their children Aden, Blake, and Carlee of Miles City, Grandson Justin (Brittney) Nelson and their daughter Kinsey of Helena, Granddaughter Jennifer (Chancey) Andrews and their children Seth and Kailey of Helena.
Ruby was preceded in death by her Husband Paul, her Mother (Evelyn) and Father (Clarence), her companions Precious and Tucker, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorials in Ruby’s name may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
The family would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the EMTs, Holy Rosary Hospital staff and the Holy Rosary Hospice Team for the attention given to Ruby in her time of need.
