Russell was born May 18, 1966 in Flandreau S.D. and passed away at the Billings Clinic of organ failure on May 15, 2006.
Russell graduated from Poplar High School in 1985. He played football and was a state wrestler and qualified for the state high school rodeo bareback riding. He attended college at Black Hills State on a rodeo scholarship. Throughout his life he worked construction, seismograph and work over rigs. Most of all he helped his dad on the ranch breaking horses. He enjoyed being with his friends and family and taking a cruise out to the ranch and to John Mannings to visit. He would always greet everyone with a big smile and a cheerful hello. Russell had a great sense of humor and you could always expect him to say something to make you laugh. He always had a good joke or story to tell.
Russell is survived by his parents; Larry and Nancy Burshia of North Brockton, Darlene (Longee) Burshia, His long time companion; Thomasine Thomas, daughter; Shanae Burshia of Riverside, sisters; Shelley (Brian) Duran of Colorado, Haven (Bob) Richardson of Williston ND., Ann Burshia of Medicine Lake, brothers; Louie & Michael Burshia of Poplar, Rodney (Robyn) Burshia of Brockton and numerous nieces and nephews.
Russell was preceded in death by a sister, brother, and paternal, maternal grandparents.
Visitation be held Thursday, May 18, 2006 starting at 4 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Brockton Cultural Center. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 19, 2006 at 10 a.m. at the Brockton Cultural Center. Interment will be held at the Riverview Cemetery in Brockton.
