On July 4, 2010, our Lord called our beloved, Ryan Wade Buckles, 21, of Poplar, MT, home where all his family that went before him, were waiting with open arms to embrace him and keep him safe until we are all able to join him.
Ryan was born on February 3, 1989 to Sheila Greybull and Morris Buckles in Williston, ND.Ryan attended Poplar Elementary, Longfellow Elementary, East Middle School, Great Falls High in Great Falls, and graduated from Chemawa Indian School in May 2007, where he was voted as the Homecoming Prince. Ryan was active in basketball and football.PFC Buckles entered the U.S. Army in September 2008, stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY, and was preparing to be deployed to Afghanistan with the Headquarters Company 2nd Battalion of the 506th Infantry Regiment. Ryan was a fan of the North Carolina Tarheels, Denver Broncos, Oregon Ducks, and Portland Trailblazers and attended most sporting events with his cousin, Carlon.
Ryan always had a smile and a hug for everyone he knew or met.
Ryan is survived by his parents, Sheila Greybull and Morris Buckles, both of Poplar, MT; brother, Derrick (Angel) Greybull of Butte, MT; sisters, Marissa Buckles, Mandee (Scott) Kohl, and Mallory Greybull, all of Poplar, MT; special nephew, Tanner Kohl of Poplar, MT; uncles, Brian (Emma) Greybull of Sisseton, SD, Anthony (Belva) Browning of Great Falls, MT, Melvin Greybull Jr. of Williston, ND, Everette Browning Jr, Ronnie Grainger, Terrence Cooeyate, Wes Greybull, Rick Moralas Sr., all of Poplar, MT, and Jeff Stump of Ft. Kipp, MT; aunts, Johana (Joey) Greybull of Glasgow, MT, Monica and Lindsay Greybull of Williston, ND, Marilee Buckles, Marquita (Tom) Colgan, Trivian Grainger, Margie Stump, and Bonnie Weinberger, all of Poplar, MT, Mona (Maynard) Black Dog of Ft. Kipp, MT, Shari Daniels of Poplar, MT, and Pauline (Tom) Cody of Glendive, MT; grandmothers, Maryann Greybull, Iris Greybull, and Darlene Longee, all of Poplar, MT; grandfathers, Maynard Hawk, John Longee, Maynard Longee, Lawrence Longee, Arthur Greybull Sr., and Lonnie Iron Bear, all of Poplar, MT; special cousins, Nina (Bil) Pritchard, Alison Greybull, Cecelia & Reyna Cooeyate; nephews, Tuffy, Kobe, Howard, Billy, Ronnie, Tommy, Elijah, Easton, Eljin, Cale, Christopher, Jay, Adam, Doryan, and Hank; nieces, Marias, SandyLynn, Liessa, Holly, Macey, Tina, Jordan, Zoey, and Kodilynn.
Because Ryan came from such a large family, he is survived by numerous cousins on both his maternal and paternal sides. Ryan is also survived by a special friend, Darcy Bushman and by the many friends he made at the schools he attended and in the Service.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Diane Longee and Melvin Greybull Sr.; paternal grandparents, Marjorie Tootie and David Shunks Buckles; aunt, Kimberly Greybull; uncles, Sandy and Buddy Grainger, Lynnie and Timmy Smith; cousin, Carlon Longtree; nephew, Kanyen Greybull.
Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point has been entrusted with the arrangements.
