In Memory Of

Ryan Watts, age 35 of Miles City.

January 27, 1979 – January 23, 2015

Ryan Joseph Watts, “Rhino”, “Ry Guy”, “Sam”, “Wuzza”, “Wattsy”,  and “Fridge”, departed for a tee-time in Heaven on January 23rd, 2015, surrounded by loved ones at Porter Adventist Hospital, in Denver CO, due to organ failure onset by virus, to a battle tattered body which had previously persevered through two kidney transplants and multiple medical complications.  His body on earth just couldn’t take any more.

Ryan entered into this world on January 27th, 1979, in Miles City, MT.  He was raised on the family farm, and attended school in Terry, MT; Fort Collins, CO, and graduated from Custer County District High School in 1997.  He was a member of the Cowboy golf team, played baseball for the Miles City Mavericks, and had started working part time for his father, Ron, at Watts Insurance, at the age of 14.

Ryan went on to attend college at MCC, and spent some time working on the Weyerbacher Farm in Kinsey.  In 2001 he obtained his insurance license and partnered with his father, forming Watts Insurance Inc., for Montana Farmers Union Insurance.  Later, that corporation was expanded with a second office, and partner, brother Blayne.  Their team was just recognized as agency of the year for 2014.

In May of 2002, Ryan married his soul mate, Beth Adams, and became a father of two beautiful girls, Avi Lane, and Halli Rayn.  Ryan’s family was his pride and joy, and he never hesitated sharing his life experiences with them.

Ryan was very active in the community, and never hesitated to give back.  He became an American Legion Umpire, and served on many boards:  Miles City Legion Baseball Association, Community 1st Federal Credit Union, Milestown Community Improvements Inc, and the Miles City Town & Country Club.  He also was a dedicated member of the “Chain Gang” for Custer County Football.

Ryan was an avid golfer, hunter, gambler, bowler, and a huge sports enthusiast.  Competition was in every aspect of his life.  Not only did he compete, but he was very successful.  He was continuously one of the lowest handicapped golfers at the local club, winning multiple tournaments and awards.  He bowled his first seven hundred series at the age of seventeen, and recently accomplished the perfect game of “300!”  He loved “Da-Bears”, and was easy to spot on the golf course in his navy and orange, Chicago Bears cart.  He never got the elusive “hole in one”, but usually had a picture on his phone to show you how close he had gotten to the pin his last time out.

A rare breed, passionate about competition, but a man with no enemies.  He could beat you down on the golf course, and take all of your money at the poker table, but do it in a fashion where you still wanted to give him a hug after competing.  Sportsmanship at its best.  Always a smile on his face, a joke to be told, and a laugh to be shared.  A true ambassador for life.

Ryan was a dad, son, brother, cousin, nephew, grandson, in-law, and friend to all.  Ryan was loved and survived by many.  His wife, Beth Adams Watts; daughters Avi Lane Hager and Halli Rayn Watts; father and step-mother Ron J Watts and Connie Earley Watts;  Mother Carolyn Rost Kimball; his mothers and fathers in law Bob (Lynn) Stephenson and Tom (Terry) Adams; brother and his bride, Blayne J Watts and Becky Jill Dornfeld Watts; sister and her fiancé, Skye Ann Watts and Wacy Arndt; Kidney brother and best friend, Brian Hubbell; Step-Father Jerry Kimball; Step-Siblings Danny Kimball, Keli Kimball Anderson, Courtney Kimball Morris, Julia Kinzler , Jill Kinzler French, Philip Earley, and their families.  His sisters-in-law, Kim Adams Schneidt and her husband Dustin Schneidt, Julie Adams and her boyfriend Chris Setera , His nephews, Trevor J Watts, Torrey Ryan Watts (and God-Son), Jacksen Watts, and nieces Jenna McKenzie Watts, Teigan Schneidt and Arden Schneidt.  He is also survived by many aunts and uncles, Alice and Rick Hill, Beverly Watts Ostermiller and Gary Ostermiller, Barbara Watts Finneman and Thomas Finneman, Debra Watts Sloan and Pat Sloan, Bruce and Anne Rost, John and Chris Rost, and Lucinda Rost, God-Father Mick Weist, and Kirk Michels.  Ryan is survived by his many loving cousins: Jeff Hill, Roxie Smith Schwartz, Joni Hill Singleton, Brent Smith, Kami Finneman Doughty, Jason Smith, Jennifer Myran Warden, Lonnye Finneman, Jana Sloan Ward, Casey Rost, Jaci Sloan Robinson, Chad Tims, Jarin Sloan, Alyssa Tims, Jason Rost and their spouses and children.  He is survived by grandparents:  Shirley Myran Watts, Patricia Rost Kloberdanz and Frank Kloberdanz.  He also is survived by God-Daughter, Maddisen Hill, and numerous other friends and extended family.

Ryan is met at the gates of Heaven by his grandfathers, Homer J Watts, Jack Rost, and Scotty Taft Mitchell; his niece, Payten Ashley Watts; his aunt and God-Mother Connie Rost Michels, cousin, Randy “Rando” Schwartz, and business partner, Ed Kennedy.  His trusty companion “Dusty” headed out just recently, and we’re sure he’s wagging his tail, waiting for his buddy to arrive.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City with family receiving friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the MCC Kailey Gymnasium.  Interment will follow in the Custer County Cemetery.  Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of the arrangements.  Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting:  www.stevensonandsons.com.

  1. Del Linda and Barry Rakes says

    January 24, 2015 at 10:53 am

Ryan was a wonderful and very special young man and will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers our with all of you.

  3. Nancy Pasha says

    January 24, 2015 at 11:05 am

HAVE FAITH BETH: God is always with you, though it may not seem so right now. He knows your sorrow, He knows your grief, He knows the ache in your heart, and He knows your need to just hold him once more.
HAVE HOPE BETH: God’s love surrounds you much more than you know. He is there to comfort you when you awake alone each morning. He is there to guide you through your day, even though some days it seems you cannot make it. He is there when you close your eyes at night and he sees the tears slip from your eyes. He holds you in his arms at night so you can peacefully sleep.
HAVE PEACE BETH: God has a special plan just for you. Pee Wee told me, “God’s plan is perfect!” We may never truly understand why God called Ryan home at the moment he did, but His plan is perfect. Pee Wee and Ryan were only on loan to us. They always belonged to our Heavenly Father and weren’t we fortunate for the years we had them. I feel truly blessed!
HAVE JOY BETH: For always, come what may, God will help to see you through. He will be there at your lowest moments and celebrate with you when you recall a special moment that you shared with Ryan. There will be times when you get so mad because you don’t know how he did something, and you are struggling to do what he did so easily. My low moments come when I am trying to thaw a pressure pump and I get so incredibly angry at Pee Wee for giving me thousands of driving lessons on the way to Fort Harrison, when he should have been giving me lessons on how to make a water pump work. Many a night I shed tears over frozen pipes!

Recall these precious memories and share them with your family. God Bless you, honey! You are in my prayers.

It was because of Ryan that I started to go to Grace Bible & got back on track with the Lord, something I am eternally grateful for. And on the last hole ryan rides up on his golf cart Pryor to me teeing off. I talked and talked cause I knew this guy could golf and I knew I Could not . So finally he said go ahead and tee off don’t let me stop you. Well I drove it better than I ever had and ryan was complimenting me on how well I hit the ball unknowingly that it was luck. Then he asked to play a round with us so we did and I could not disguise my horrible golf game anymore. He knew I was no good but he always tried to find the positives to help me out . I played quite a few times with him and have some awesome memories. He will be missed.

my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to
prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to
myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way to the place where I am
going.” Thomas said to him, “ Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?”
Jesus said to him, “ I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through
    me.”

    1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.

My condolence to the Watt’s family. Ryan was a great man and will be truly missed, it really does not seem fair to have him gone so early in life. All the condolences, prayers, and scripture does not seem to make any easier when parents lose a child and there is not a quick fix but as I view it, if this will be any help or not, God loved Ryan so much that God needed some great company and called him home. May the Lord be merciful and give you comfort in the hours ahead.

In the short time we were on the board together, I enjoyed him as a director. He was a good guy, was really down to earth and always upbeat and friendly. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time of loss.

Life is so very uncertain and when God choses to take a loved one, it is his plan for a better place for our beloved. My heart is breaking for the entire Watts family as I know that you all had such high expectations of Ryan getting better and coming home to each of you once again. I guess that we all did…when I heard the news that he was going to Denver, I just knew he was going to get better!! I cannot imagine the shock, heartbreak and grief that was bestowed on you when he couldn’t be ‘taken care of’. Well, God has Ryan in his hands and he is taking care of him and he no longer has the hurt, pain and suffering that we saw him endure. We all are praying for each of you to heal and to be able to get through the loss of your son,

    Beth, Caroline and Family,
Our memories extend far back to little league baseball and then watching Ryan courageously battle his health issues living each day doing the things he enjoyed and loving his family. We should not survive our children, and we should not lose young husbands. But sometimes we do. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you as you learn to live on without Ryan and be happy that you were always there for him.

Dear Beth,Avi,Halli,Ron,Connie,Carolyn,Blayne,Becky,Jerry, and all of the rest of the wonderful Family Members; Our deepest sympathy goes out to all of you. We are so sorry for your tremendous loss and heartbreak. Ryan had the biggest heart and most beautiful twinkling, soulful, eyes and smile. He was truly EVERYONE’S FRIEND and also an AWESOME insurance man. As our families go way back, our hearts are saddened so much for all of you. I want you to know that I can truly empathize with your loss and pain. Even though my son James was much younger when he passed on, this Bible verse has helped me. It has helped me to read and always remember Romans 8:38 and 39…….”For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Ryan is Heaven’s gain and someday we will understand why he was received now. Remember NOTHING can separate YOUR LOVE. Love to you all and may GOD strengthen, comfort and bless you through. How did Ryan have 3 grandfathers? Was there like a threesome with one of the grannies? Was one of them like a substitute granddad if one of the other granddads needed a break from all the good grandkids or broke parole? Or did at least one of those guys never had their Maury moment because it was before Maury so they all had to be like the father or something? RIP and condoles though
