Samuel H.Annalora passed away March 10, 2007 surrounded by his family at Holy Rosary Extended Care Hospice.
Sam was born on May 19, 1918 in Miles City, Montana, to Anthony and Virginia (Rizza)Annalora. A lifelong resident of Miles City, Sam spent his childhood on the family farm in Yellowstone Valley. His elementary education was at Kircher School. After his 1936 graduation from Custer County High School, Sam served in the Civilian Conservation Corp (C.C.C.) until 1938. Sam worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad until he joined the U.S. Army on March 23, 1944. Armed forces service sent Sam to Japan and the Philippines as a member of the Military Police. After his discharge on April 27, 1946, Sam worked at various jobs until he began his own business as a painting contractor. Sam was an active member of the painters union.
On August 24, 1940, Sam married Ruby Bovee under the archway of her parents home, Alphie and RoseBovee. To this union was born Virginia Ginger, Vicki, Terry and Lindy. Sam was extremely proud of and close to his entire family. Sam always enjoyed attending the performances of the CCDHS Choral Department under the direction of his son, Terry. A handyman of many talents, Sam gave his time to anyone who needed assistance or expressed an interest in learning the complexities of furniture refinishing. Sams carpentry skills provided his family with both their permanent residence, which he built in 1949, and the custom motor home he completed in 1973.
As a member of the Sacred Heart Round Table (sports boosters) he cooked for coaches and teams when the Sacred Heart High School teams traveled to tournaments and playoff games. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish, the Sacred Heart Music Parents, the Custer Rod and Gun Club, and the V.F.W. Sam was a Hunters Safety instructor and taught furniture refinishing at Miles Community College. Every year Sam planted and harvested a large garden and grew a variety of fruit trees and even grapes in his back yard. An avid fly fisherman, Sam spent 56 consecutive summers camping on the Madison River. He not only taught his children and grandchildren, but also his nieces and nephews to fish, camp, and hunt. His appreciation of the outdoors is one of his most accomplished legacies Sam gave to his relatives.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Frank and A.J. Tony;sisters Jean, Mary, and Josephine; and grandson-in-law Greg Boettcher.
Sam is survived by his wife, Ruby, his daughter Ginger (Joe) Weiss of Great Falls, daughters Vicki and Lindy, and son, Terry (Myra), all of Miles City; three grandchildren, Julie (Andy) Younggren, Jill Boettcher, and Brian Weiss; seven great-grandchildren, Brandelle (Brad) Delph, Jeremy, Andrea, and Christina Younggren, Brad and Holly Boettcher, andKianna Weiss; and one great-great-granddaughter, Adrianna Delph. He is also survived by brother-in-law, Bob (Dorothy) Bovee and sisters-in-law, Louise Annalora and MaryBovee, and by several nieces and nephews and their families who were special to him.
