Sandra Lee (Ewalt) Lockie, 82, of Miles City, Montana, passed away on March 29, 2025, of complications of RSV. She was born on May 30, 1942, to Kenneth Roland and Madge Margaret Ewalt, in Sacramento, California. She was the oldest of six children, Roland (Sandra) Ewalt, Kenneth Ewalt, Jeannie Miller, Bobbie Kay (Rolly) Hoyt, and Mary (Edgar) Long.
Sandra married her high school sweetheart, John Bruce Lockie, on June 20, 1960. They had three children JB (Amy) Lockie, Jennie (TJ) Spratt, John Charles Lockie. She also had two granddaughters, Chandra Lee Lockie, and Coralee Spratt (Seth) Andersen, and one great grandson, Rye William Andersen.
They spent 65 years ranching together, and through the years she worked professionally as a clerk at the Miles City Sale Yards and Youngland Auction Services, as a secretary at the Catholic school, KIKC radio, and at MSU Extension in Bozeman. She was a Federal Crop Adjuster for years, and retired from Fort Keogh in Miles City.
Sandra loved gardening, especially her rose garden, and she was an excellent cook. She loved cats, horses, cattle, and most of all, her family.
We want to thank the Holy Rosary ICU for their care and compassion that they showed Sandra and our family.
Family and friends are invited to Sandra’s Celebration of Life on Thursday, April 3rd at 2:00 p.m., at the First Lutheran Church of Miles City. Refreshments will be provided following the service. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.

Sandy and Bruce chaperoned us to Kansas City for the National FFA Convention. She was always a mom to all JB’s friends. Growing up, you always knew you were going to have fun when you got to hang out at Mrs. Lockie’s house!
JB and family, I know this must be a hard time for you. Please know that your mom will always be remembered with fondness and respect, and that I hope these next generations have learned how kindness and gentility can make this a better world — because that is what Sandy passed to us. Many blessings and happy memories to all of you.

She had an incredible memory for people. I didn’t see her often, but in my younger years I did see her occasionally. She always remembered me and asked about the family ( both Curts, and mine). She’s undoubtedly having good conversations with those who have gone before her. She was a true treasure on earth.

Sandie was one of the best friends I have ever had, she lit up my life and everyone else around her. We could make a coffee visit last two-three hours visiting about nothing in particular, just whatever came to mind. When I am gone, I will know I am in the right place when I hear that welcoming “Nancy girl”.

We are so sorry to learn of Sandie’s passing. She was a loyal Miles Citian and Fort Keogher. She proudlly filled the Fort Keogh “motherly” role of Mary’s when Mary retired and Sandie was hired. She always had a smile on her face and was a great addition to our staff. Our sympathy to her family and many friends.

Bruce and Sandie family, I lost another link another to my Dad, “Jimmy Archdale.” My Dad treasured his friendship with the entire Lockie family. JB always had a great story for Dad. Jennie with her great talent of handling horses. Dad would make an extra sandwhich for Charlie to share at lunch. Charlie would pedal his bicycle to where Dad was fixing fence to visit and enjoy his sandwhich. Prayers and thoughts for the family.
