On the early morning of June 24th, Sandra Rosalie Martell-Dolajak passed away peacefully at Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City, MT, from complications of stomach cancer, which she was diagnosed with in early May of 2021. She was surrounded by her beloved husband John M. Dolajak and one of her beloved niece and nephew Carleen & Dillon Silk. In the days previous to her passing, she was comforted with her entire family. The room was full of love and she felt it.
Sandra Rosalie Martell aka “Sandy” was born Jan. 27, 1962 in Poplar Montana to Daniel Martell Sr. and Mary Colvin. She has 5 sisters and 7 brothers, she had very special relationships with each and every sibling. She was the 3rd youngest in her family. Sandy was raised in Wolf Point Montana. From a young age Sandy was “the life of the party”. She could walk into a room and light it up. She had the best sense of humor and could bring anyone to tears with the type of laughter that would make your stomach ache and cheeks hurt. She was the glue that held the family together. Nothing would stop Sandy when it came to her family. Family was everything to her. She was kind, she wanted to keep the peace in every situation and she’d make sure to make you feel at home and welcomed. You want to talk about a selfless person that she was. She’d give the last of anything she had and she’d never think twice about it.
Sandy enjoyed playing bingo. She could always be found at the casino trying to score big. She enjoyed family outings, spending the weekends at the lake and setting up the best birthdays and holidays for her children and other family members. She loved to dance to her classic rock and oldies and country music. She loved to play pool and throw darts as well as playing cards. Sandy loved having deep talks about literature and dissecting movies. She loved going on walks whenever she could and enjoyed cooking and you better believe she made the best frybread there ever was. Sandy always had the best stories; she could talk for hours. She could make up her own stories and she was so animated that you never really knew what was truth and what was made up. She was also very spiritual and in tune with her sixth sense. Superstitious would be an understatement.
Sandra was preceded in death by her father and mother Dan Martell Sr. and Mary Colvin, brother David Martell, sister and brother-in-law Patty and Fred Silk, sister Sharon Hawk; daughters Amanda and Nicole Lambert; Scott Hawk, Vonda Martell, Cordell Blackeagle. We are sorry if we have missed anyone.
Sandra is survived by her husband John Dolajak, her children; Joseph Stancel Lambert Jr, Ace J. Lockwood, Erica Lockwood, Uriah Lockwood, Shoshana Lockwood and Cheyenne Lockwood and fiancé Nathaniel Johnson, Jane Praus, Jerod Kappes. Her nieces Carleen Silk, Coleen Silk. Dillon Kenitzer, Patricia Silk (Mister) Fred Silk Jr and kids, brothers and sisters Maggie Fasthorse; Joe, Luke, Connie, Willie, Dennis Martell, numerous nephews and nieces, cousins and grandchildren. She came from an extremely large family.
Special thanks To Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home.
