Sandra died Sunday, June 20, 2004 as a last wish, at her home surrounded by family and friends, from a long battle with leukemia.
Sandra Clair Vetter, known to her family and friends as Sandy was born March 30, 1948, the daughter of Chris V. and Loretta A. (Timp) Sautner in Hoven, South Dakota. She was raised on the family farm between Hoven and Gettysburg, South Dakota. Graduating from Hoven High School in 1967, she worked at the nursing home in Gettysburg. On October 16, 1970, she married her high school sweetheart, David Vetter in Gettysburg, South Dakota. Sandy worked for many years at Montgomery Wards with her mother-in-law until moving to Gillette, Wyoming in 1979. Her primary focus was raising her children, however, she did work at the Gillette Theaters, the old Ice Crme and Sandwich Shoppe on Main Street and also Frontier Lanes. In 1998, she and Dave owned and operated the Sport Specialties for five years, until Sandys health would no longer allow her to work.
Sandy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren; spending time in the mountains in her cabin in the Bighorns hunting, shooting bow, crafts, snowmobile and 4-wheel riding, collecting wind chimes and bowling.
She is survived by her parents; her husband; two daughters: Lori Svalina-Vetter of Gillette, Wyoming; Dawn Vetter of Rapid City, South Dakota; one sister, Fay Imberi of Belgrade, Montana; two brothers: Jeff Sautner and Jim Sautner both of Gillette, Wyoming; three granddaughters: Chandra, Keri and Desi Svalina all of Gillette, Wyoming; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Mary and Joe Sautner and John and Elizabeth Timp.
