Sarah Jesse, age 88 of Broadus, passed away on December 15, 2013 at the Powder River Manor in Broadus, MT.
Sarah was born on November 17, 1925 in Miles City; the daughter of Percy & Alfa (Dunham) Daily. She attended grade schools in Miles City, and graduated from Custer County District High School in 1946. After graduation, she went to a Christian Bible College in Portland Oregon for a year. After college, she moved back to Montana and worked for JC Penny’s as well as Mountain Bell Telephone Company. On September 7, 1949 she married the love of her life, Ken Jesse, in Miles City. They lived on the family ranch until 1957, when they moved to Broadus to take over the International Truck dealership. Sarah started to drive school bus in 1968 and continued to do so until 1987. From this point forward, Sarah was a wonderful homemaker. Ken and Sarah were able to enjoy lots of traveling together during this time, one of the most memorable was to Alaska in 1994.
She was active in the ladies prayer group in Broadus, 4H, Eastern Stars, Coalwood Ladies Aide and most importantly the church. Sarah loved her cats, cooking, as well as her afternoon tea parties with her friends. She loved to eat a good meal whether it was at a restaurant or home cooked. She would never forget a wonderful meal, and would still talk about it afterwards. Sarah had quiet, gentle wit and ability to make do with what she had to use. She raised her children in the love and admiration of the Lord.

Shiela Cathey says
I can not be sad that Sarah has passed from this world on to be with Jesus and her family that went before! She was such a mentor and inspiration to me. The way she accepted each challenge she was faced with, and she had more than her share—-always with quiet dignity and resolve! You will be mised, Sarah, but always remembered in a special way! My prayers for your family
Pam & David Nisley says
I Agree with Shiela Cathey, Sarah was such a mentor and inspiration to many of us!! Her quiet, yet dignified manner, with great humility are character traits I remember. Always a loving smile, and when she smiled and her eyes got big, and she raised her eyebrows – the whole room lit up. I treasure our times of prayer together, with others in the womens prayer group, Bertha Hulford, Opal Rowsey, and our former interim pastor’s wife, Barbara Ayers. You shined Jesus for us all, Sarah, and we know you are with Him and Linda, Cindy, and all the others that have gone before us that trusted Christ as their Savior~ I look forward to our reunion one day, until then……Thank you sweet Sarah, for your inspiration and modeling Jesus for us all! To all of her loved ones – you are in my prayers~

Ken, Dick, Laura and Darlene,
You all know how fond I was of Sarah. She was such a sweetheart. Even though we will all miss her, I know she is in a better place. I’m sure Linda and Cindy met her at the gates of heaven and a joyous reunion ensued. May God bless each and every member of Sarah’s family with fond memories and the peace that comes with knowing she is in good hands. Love to all of you. Klayton and Mary Jane

So sorry for your loss. Sarah was my bus driver for years and had a few choice riders but never let them get her down, she was always calm, cool and collected, a fine lady . She is dancing in heaven with her daughters and rejoicing in the love of the lord . Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Ken and family, Sending our sincerest sympathies during this time. Sarah was a sweet, quiet and very kind person. Ken, you and Sarah were my first neighbors when I moved to Broadus and made me feel so welcome and part of the neighborhood. You always looked after things when we were gone and checked on us everyday. Sarah always had goodies to share and I will remember her always.
Duane and Debbie (Portwine) Talcott says
Ken, Dick, Darlene and Tom, Lora and Steve, Jack, Steve, and all you wonderful Grandchildren, I have been searching for the words to express my sympathy for Sarah. Growing up your home was like a second home to me, I always felt welcome. I can still taste Sarah’s homemade caramel rolls and mine never quite hit the target. Tears fill my eyes when I think of her reunion with Linda and Cindy. How blessed I have been to know Sarah. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Grief never ends, but it changes. It’s a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith. It is the price of love.

Dear Jesse Family, My condolences to you for the loss of your wife and mother. I have many happy memories of time spent at your house as a child during vacation Bible school. Though we know where Sarah is, those of us left behind grieve our time of separation. I pray that God will give you comfort and peace.

My sincere condolences to the family of Sarah Jesse – I am sorry to hear of your loss. May you find comfort in many wonderful memories and beautiful pictures of Mrs. Jesse at this difficult time. God has promised that a time will come when no one will say “I am sick” (Isaiah 33:24). The Bible gives us hope that soon God will end all suffering, pain, and death. (Revelation 21:4) The promise of Paradise, the perfect conditions God originally intended for mankind in the Garden of Eden will be fulfilled including God’s “will being done as in Heaven also upon Earth“ (Matthew 6:9, 10). It is hoped that you are comforted by the promises in the Bible. (John 17:3).
Albert and Leona Neate says
All the memories you have of Sarah will be in your hearts for ever. Also knowing that she is now in a better place with her daughters has put a smile on our faces. She was such a great person and always made everyone feel welcome in her home. Sarah truly will be missed. God bless to you all.

I just heard about your loss and am so sorry. But hopefully the good memories will sustain you during this difficult time. I have so many good memories growing up in the same neighborhood – among them were Sarah’s visits and wonderful rolls. (I still have her recipe, although I have not attempted to bake bread in a very long time.) My prayers and thoughts are with you all.
