Mom, if she had a choice, would have never left Miles City, her house or her loved ones. Sarah Anne Taylor is no longer with us, she died on September 16, 2022. However, she was full of hope even as her life faded because she loved her God and trusted in him. It’s something that we her children not only respect her for but we are greatly comforted by. We are reminded by the hope she possessed that we’ll see her again. She said to us “Don’t worry.” because she knew these words from the scriptures:
Job 14:14 “If a man dies, can he live again? I will wait all the days of my compulsory service Until my relief comes.”
She was born in Miles City 1933 to Richard and Helen Gluyas the youngest of four children and the only girl. She always spoke fondly of her father, a kind man, who worked on steam locomotives for the Milwaukee Road. They always had what they needed but never had a car and just walked everywhere. They stayed put in Miles City (no doubt where Mom picked up that habit) and only took one vacation to see family, of course by train to Ohio. Our Dad, Don Taylor changed all of that because he loved cars, trips and our mother. He decided she needed to drive a car so he taught her when she was about 21. “We about ended up on the steps of the nurses’ school (Presentation School of Nursing)!” he would exclaim in recounting the event with a huge smile. Something all of us kids worried could happen again in her golden years when we couldn’t get the keys away from her; she loved her car. Thanks Dad!
Sarah graduated from Custer County High School in 1951 and attended 1 year of college at M.C.C. She almost wound up on those steps of the nursing school, because her best friend Beverly attended the nursing school and our father Don and his identical twin brother LeRoy chased those two girls relentlessly until on May 19, 1956 she married Donald William Taylor and her best friend married LeRoy John Taylor, it was a double wedding. She worked alongside Don for the Miles City Mercantile Company as a secretary for about 12 years: he sold things and she billed them. Then she became a stay-at-home mom and wife and kept the Taylor household in order. She cherished her relationship with her God Jehovah and volunteered her time to telling others about him and his promises for the future: a world free of death and pain and the hope of the resurrection of all those lost to us in death. We anxiously await the day we can welcome our parents back to this new world and this loved foursome will be together again enjoying life to the full.
For the moment she leaves behind her children Linda, Steven (Penny) and Curtis (Julie). Her beloved grandchildren Amie, Todd, Michael, Jeffrey, Kelcey, Bethany, Katrina, Ivey and Soren, along with 12 great grandchildren.
At Mom’s request there will be no memorial service. A private graveside has taken place at the Custer County Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com. As she always said “Don’t worry about me, I’m fine.” She meant it. Until we see her again, we won’t worry!

I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of Sarah. I’m not sure you remember me, but when I was a kid…for a time, Steve rented a room in my Mama’s (Vicki Wuest) house. I remember your family and pray that healing arms wrap around you to comfort you in this tough time. May Sarah be at peace. God bless you all!
