Rite of Committal: Pioneer Cemetery with full military honors.
SFC Reginald Reg Richard Lawrence, age 33, stationed in North Carolina formerly of Jordan, Montana passed away on Sunday, December 19,2010at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Reg was born in Glasgow, MTon May 23, 1977, the son of Richard and Earline (Trotter) Lawrence. He grew up and attended schools in Jordan, graduating from Garfield County High School in 1995. He then attended University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota, Montana State University andMSUin Billings,graduating in 2001. The following year on December27, 2002 while he wasstationed atFt. Drum, NY,he came home on leave and married Sara Lawson inBozeman, Montana.
He joined the Army in 2001 and was stationedat Ft. Drum with the 10th MTN. Division. He deployed to Iraq in 2003. SFC Lawrence graduated the SF Qualification Medic Course in 2007 and was assigned to A Co, 1st BN, 3rd SFG(A), ODA 3114 at Fort Bragg, NC. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2009. He has attended Airborne school, SERE school, SFAUC, Static Line Jumpmaster, HALO, and Air Assault. His decorations include a Bronze Star, Army Accommodation Medal (1 OLC), Army Achievement Medal Special Forces Tab and the Combat Infantrymans Badge.
Reg was a special husband, father, son and brother. He loved taking his family fishing and cruising around on the boat. He enjoyed explaining the ins and outs of Dallas Cowboys' football to Drew, but was equally excited to have dress-up princess tea parties with Reese. Reg was very proudof his children, enjoying every minute with them. One of his proudest moments, however, was to deliver his son - he often boasted that he was the first one to hold and make eye contact with Drew.
Reg has a zest and love for life and could make anyone laugh by his quick wit and fun loving attitude. He loved playing practical jokes and no matter how mundane the job he could find a way to make it fun. Reg never met a stranger and could always recall their names the next time he saw them. He was a caring person who would help anyone at any time. He had a gift of making everyone feel welcome and at ease in his presence.
Reg is survived by wife Sara, daughter Reese Meradith (2) and son Drew Bentley (1); his parents Richard and Earline Lawrence of Jordan, MT; a brother Rod Lawrence and wife Beth, and nieces, Lacey, Lindsay and Skylar, all of Jordan; his paternal grandparents,Art and Lois Lawrence of Glasgow, Montana, in addition to numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Reg was proceeded in death by his maternal grandparents, Waldo and Mary Rose Bentley formally of the family ranch 20 miles west of Jordan. As well as a very special friend and cousin Kent Williams, uncles Mick and Anthony Trotter and two aunts Linda Domme and Claudia Trotter; in addition to numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made in Regs name in care of the Garfield County Bank in Jordan for a education fund for his children.
