Our beloved son, brother, father, uncle, and friend Shane Allen Ewing, VOAHE (Buck Deer) was called home on December 22, 2009.

Shane was born on November 11, 1975 in Crow Agency, MT to Lynwood Ewing and Leah Lonebear. He spent his early years in Lame Deer, MT and his formative years on his favorite place to be, Muddy Creek.Shane attended school in St. Labre and Colstrip where he graduated in 1994. While attending Colstrip, he made All-State and All-Conference in Basketball three years of his high school career. He continued his education at St. Marys in Bismark, ND, Miles Community College in Miles City, MT, and Chief Dull Knife College where he received his Associates Degree in 1998.

Shane accomplished a great deal in the short time that he graced us with his loving presence. He always believed in living life to the fullest and excelling at everything that he did. Coming in second was never an option for him, his competitive nature would not let him even consider it.Shane loved to spend time with everyone, especially his dad, daughter, smokejumper brothers, the Muddy Creek boys, his hunting buddies, basketball buddies and all of his extended family members. He cherished the time he spent with everyone and always had a ready smile for everyone he came across. He always loved to joke and tease with anyone he spent time with and never turned away anyone who needed his help. He never liked to be idle, he always had to be doing something, whether it was helping his grandma Mary and his dad, riding bulls as a child, riding his motor bike, riding horses, gathering wood for everyone, hunting for the Muddy Monster and other trophy bucks, running through the hills of Muddy, and playing ball.

Shane started his employment with the Forest Service right out of high school at the Forestry in Lame Deer. From there he went on to work for the Santa Fe Hot Shots for about five years. Then he went to work for the Missoula Smoke Jumpers where he was currently employed.

Shane was preceded in death by his beloved grandma Mary Harris Ewing, grandmothers Jean Lonebear and Grace Scalpcane, aunts Lydia and Louise Lonebear.

Shane is survived by his father Lynwood (Michelle) Ewing of the family home, mother Leah Lonebear of Lame Deer, MT, daughter Shaye Aspen Ewing of Missoula, brothers Steve (Tammy) Ewing of Ashland, MT, August (Annette) Scalpcane of Muddy, Kevin Lonebear of Lame Deer, Ben (Rae Dawn) Lonebear of Ashland, MT, Jeremy (Jennifer) Foote of Muddy, Terry (Lindsey) Curley of Kirby, and the Missoula Smoke Jumpers, sisters Lynette (David) Schmidt of Casper, WY, Jessica Stevens of Billings, MT, Odie Wilson of Palm Springs, CA, Marty (Shane) Ewing of Lame Deer, Jade and Jackie Three Fingers of the family home, grandmother Evelyn Flying of Lame Deer, uncles Lee (Juanita) Lonebear of Lame Deer, MT and George (Candy) Scalpcane of Rosebud, aunts Marcella Ewing of CA, Lujuana Ewing, Laverne Ewing, and Barbara (Allen) Clubfoot of Muddy, Laura Lonebear and Gertrude Firecrow of Lame Deer, nephews Keanu and Keyshawn Scalpcane of Muddy, Terry American Horse of Billings, Lenray Two Two, Jr of Lame Deer, Rusty Ewing of Ashland, MT, Rain Wilson of Palm Springs, CA, Brandon Ewing, Tyler Whistler of Casper, WY, Kayden and Carson Lonebear of Lame Deer, nieces Karmyn Shotgunn of Lame Deer, Tashia Scalpcane of Muddy, Alex Whistler, AnnaChey and Emily Schmidt of Casper, WY, Teegan and Brooklee Ewing of Ashland, MT, Lashon and Treylyn Two Two of Lame Deer, Tracy (Darrell) Medicine Bull of Louisiana, Arshanda (Charles) Knowshisgun of Lame Deer, Fran (Glenn) Knowshisgun of Billings, MT, Casey and Kori Foote of Lame Deer, many cousins and friends, the Harris family, Lonebear family, and relatives of those families.
