Sharon Joy (Martin) John, age 75, passed away on September 11, 2016 at the Cambridge, Nebraska Tri-Valley Hospital.
Sharon, the daughter of Arthur & Ella Martin, was born on July 2, 1941 in Terry, Montana. Sharon graduated from Terry High School in 1960. After graduation, she attended National College of Business in Rapid City, SD for bookkeeping. Sharon then enlisted in the Army in December 1961 and was stationed in San Pedro, CA at Fort MacArthur Army Base. She received an Honorable Discharge in March 1963. Sharon’s 25 year career with the Farmers Home Administration started in 1969 as a Loan Clerk, working in Glendive, Baker, Miles City, Wolf Point and Forsyth, MT. In 1982 she transferred to the Casper, WY office and became a Loan Specialist Trainer traveling and training clerks throughout the state of Wyoming and finally retiring from the Douglas, WY office in 1994.
After retirement Sharon moved to Hot Springs, SD to care for her mother and be near her daughter and family. She lived in Hot Springs, SD for 22 years then moved with Kathy and Alan to Cambridge, NE in August 2016. Sharon enjoyed and loved her two grandchildren immensely, Nicholas & Darci Rogers. They called her Mema and she was very instrumental in their upbringing; teaching them to read, write, count, tie their shoes, cook, play games, and the values to become responsible loving adults. She will be truly missed and live in our hearts forever.
Sharon is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Alan) Rogers, grandchildren Nicholas Rogers (Alexis Dadelahi) of Columbia, MO and Darci Rogers of Laramie, WY; sisters Jeanne Neumann of Britton, SD and Jill (Laurel) Behnke of Britton, SD, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents Arthur & Ella Martin, brother Zane Martin and son Kelly John.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 from 1:00-6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Interment will follow in the Prairie County Cemetery. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Terry is in charge of the arrangements.

Many fond memories in our growing up years as my family visited the Martin home on the Yellowstone. Fished, played cards, hunted agates, and enjoyed each other as youngsters. Sharon and I were close to the same age and ended up graduating from high school as a group of 4 (Martin family side) cousins in the Terry HS 1960 class. My thoughts and prayers are with Sharon’s family.
