Sharon W. Wilcox died on Monday, November 15, 2021, due to complications related to Alzheimer’s disease.
Sharon Williams was born on March 13, 1952, to Jack and Lorine (Littau) Williams in Perryton, TX. She grew up on a wheat farm west of Perryton, where she and her older sister Lynne used the farm equipment and outbuildings as their playground. The family enjoyed fishing together and traveling throughout many western states. Later, the family moved into Perryton. As a child, Sharon excelled at math and enjoyed taking care of family pets, especially cats.
Sharon was an active student at Perryton High School. She was a member of the National Honor Society and editor of the yearbook. She played clarinet in the marching band and then served as the drum major her senior year. Outside of school she was a Girl Scout and lifeguard. Sharon graduated from PHS in 1970.
Following high school Sharon attended Texas Tech University for two years and was proud to be a Red Raider. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1980. She later completed the Certified Public Accountant exam.
Sharon married Tom Lofland in 1972 and they lived in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Norman, Oklahoma, before arriving Miles City, Montana. Their daughter Jessica was born in 1977. Sharon later married CW Wilcox and gained son Kevin.
Sharon enjoyed an active career in Miles City beginning at First Security Bank. She then worked at Miles Community College as a bookkeeper and then comptroller. She later worked at Pine Hills School and Holy Rosary Hospital. Sharon ended her career as the executive director of Custer County Community Health Center (now OneHealth). She retired in 2014 due to health issues.
Sharon was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish. She also served on the Badlands Bowl committee and in Kiwanis and BPW, serving in leadership roles with both organizations. Sharon was proud of her 25 years of continued service to Miles Community College as an elected member of the Board of Trustees, including multiple terms as Board Chair. She enjoyed all sports, especially CCDHS Cowboy football and basketball, Maverick baseball, and all MCC Pioneer athletics. Her favorite activity during retirement was supporting her grandchildren in their activities and celebrating their many accomplishments. Sharon was very proud to build her own home nearing her retirement years and enjoyed every minute she was able to live there.
