Sherma Marie McBride Wood, beloved daughter of Lester McBride and Leafy (Allen) McBride, passed away Friday, January 6, 2006 after a long struggle with illness.
Sherman was best known for her independent spirit, personal resilience, kindness for animals, and the love she shared with her family. She moved to Miles City, Montana in 1980 shortly after the birth of her only son, Mark. Mark was the apple of her eye and the song in her heart. She also met her husband, Jack Wood, in Miles City. Both of them had known hardship in life and love and were glad for the opportunity to start again older and wiser. The three of them, Jack, Sherma and Mark, were a happy close-knit family who gave each other love and support. It was the best kind of family- the kind who knew what they had and appreciated each other every day.
Sherma lived in either Miles City or Broadus the rest of her life. For many years her father, Les McBride, and daughter Merrly Hill, and family, lived nearby. Merrlys son Jim was like a brother to Mark.
The untimely death of Jack in 1990 and especially Mark in 1997 were great burdens for her; we know that they are now together in love forever. She also joins her mother and father, many close aunts and uncles, and two grandchildren, Erica Hill and Joed McBride-Gratzfeld in heaven.
She is survived by her three daughters and their families: Leafy McBride of Fairbanks, Alaska; Nita Fetzer of Denver, Colorado and husband Joe, children Hope, Kimm, Ariel, Amber and Merlyn, and grandchildren Tyler, Tasia, Kate-Kate, Kalob and Dakota; Merrly Hill of Miles City, Montana and husband Mike, children Jim, Dea, Opal, Coleton, and Jeremiah, and grandchild Allison.
