In Memory Of

Sherman Chezum, age 75, of Miles City.

September 18, 1950 – December 31, 2025

Sherman Grant Chezum, age 75 of Miles City passed away on December 31, 2025, at his home in Miles City.

Sherm was born on September 18th, 1950, to Richard (Dick) Chezum and Betty (Grant) Chezum. He joined two sisters Teri and Jerianne. Following Sherm were two more sisters Mary Beth and Barb. Sherm grew up on Moon Creek. Attended school at Six Mile Creek School until the eighth grade and then went on to graduate from Custer County High School in Miles City, MT. Sherm had a zest for life from the beginning. He was a dreamer. From gold digging in Alaska to trucking and cowboying, he loved life. In 1969 he joined the Army National Guard and was discharged in February 1975. Sherm met Mary Finch and to that union a son was born, William Richard (Bill). From a very young age, Sherm took Bill teaching him countless things like mechanics, ranching, trucking and life lessons. He was such a loving and patient dad. He later met Connie Boyle and to that union a daughter Amy was born. Sherm then met Christine Sorensen and to that union came three step children, Carol, Elaine and James that he loved like his own. Sherm was so proud of his children and grandchildren and relished hearing the latest updates on Cole and Briana, Emma and Ava. Always telling us how proud he was!

Sherm had life long lasting friendships, he knew no stranger. His endearing smile and twinkle in his eye will be missed so much. Sherm was a giving soul, he would give you his shirt off of his back. He needed very little to be happy, which is something to be proud of. Sherm had a love for reading all things, murder mysteries, westerns, romance and history. Sherm spent most days having coffee with friends in local restaurants and any acquaintance he may have made that day.
Sherm also liked a good game of cribbage and liked to tease Amy about letting her win. But most of all he loved his family. His longest lasting friendship was an important friend and member of the family, growing up close to one another was Dick McGuire.

Sherm was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents and two nieces and a brother in law.

Sherm is survived by Bill, (Becky), Cole, (Briana, Emma, Ava), Grant Chezum, Amy Chezum, Mistina Dawn, and his sisters Teri (Glenn) Heitz, Jerianne Dunnam, Mary Beth (Myron) Kibler and Barb (Troy) Coyle as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 8th, 2026, with family receiving friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.
