Sherry Lee Wolfblack, Poke’e “Cat Woman”, age 54, passed away on July 13, 2018. She was the daughter of Gerald Red Woman and Rosalie Birdwoman.
Poke’e “Cat Woman” Turtle was a member of the Native American Church and was baptized Catholic. Her Cheyenne name was given to her by her late great-grandpa, Frank Red Woman. She went to St. Labre and Inter Mountain High Schools. Attended college in Portland, Oregon, graduated with Small Business AA Degree. Hobbies included listening to her classic rock and roll music, going for long cruises, beading, and cooking for ceremonies and celebrations for family and friends. She was our number one fry bread maker. She was the first born grandchild, of late grandparents, James and Elsie Clubfoot, they raised her when she was very young, there she learned to speak fluent Cheyenne. She was a survivor of meningitis at 8 months. She was married to the late Robert Jefferson Sr.; they made their home in Portland, Oregon for fourteen years. Her favorite uncle was Allen Clubfoot Sr. She would always say “I Love You, Uncle.”
Sherry is preceded in death by her late husband, Robert Jefferson Sr.; father, Gerald Red Woman; paternal grandparents, Eugene “Jack Rabbit” Red Woman and Clara Horse Roads; maternal grandparents, James Clubfoot and Elsie Tallwhiteman; paternal great-grandparent, Frank Red Woman and Lakota Sioux; maternal great-grandparents, John Tallwhiteman and Eleanor White Crane, and brother, John Paul Medicine Elk.
She is survived by: mother, Rosalie Birdwoman; maternal grandmother, Susie Tallwhiteman; siblings: Jay “Snoop” Wolfblack (Christine), Heidi Sativa Wolf Black (Gene), Jamsie Wolf Black, Clover Bearing; adopted siblings, DavidRoundstone, Richard Laughter, Delbert Begay, Alvis Laughter, and Tilly Donnafield; children, Sage Clubfoot (Monica) Lasondra Sandcrane, and Ricky Sandcrane; grandchildren, Sharay Tallwhiteman, Sage Clubfoot Jr., Natasha Clubfoot, Shrilaray Limpy, Nevaeh Sandcrane, Rosie Sandcrane, and Danny Clubfoot; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Our extended family includes: Killsnight, Horse Roads, Rogers, Hamiltons, Medicine Elk, Shoulderblade, Tall Bull, Bearcomesout, Seminole, Clubfoot, Tallwhiteman, Littlebird, Locher, Redcherries, Big Back, White Crane, Red Neck, Roundstone, Medicine Top, Bixby, Spang, Fishers, and Many More. Our Family is very large, we apologize if we forgot to mention any of your names.

I just found out about the passing of Sherry. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. Between 2003 and 2009 I represented Robert’s work in my gallery in Portland, Oregon. Sherry and Robert were talented people. They are once again together.
