Shirley R. Pippy was granted her angel wings on May 23, 2010 where she died peacefully in her home.

She was born at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital 01/15/1926 to Raymond and Dolly (McNamer) Kannegard. Shirley spent her childhood growing up on the family homestead in Wilsall and attending school in Sedan and Bozeman. She was always a caretaker for everyone and followed her passion with a career in nursing. She graduated from MSU Nursing School in Bozeman in 1958, followed with earning a Bachelors degree from Carroll College in 1961. Her career included working in Helena at St Johns, the VA and at St. Peters hospital, where she assisted with opening the first ICU. She also did nursing in New York, California and in Alaska at the Alaskan Native Hospital as an orthopedic flight nurse; which is where she retired from in 1991.

Shirley was married to Bob Gwaltney and to Bob Dargan prior to meeting and marrying the love of her life Ulva Ladd Pippy in 1967. He preceded her in death in 1978.She had a very memorable life and always had a story to share. Some of her favorite memories were as her fathers right hand man on the ranch, working by his side; riding horseback 7 miles to school, (uphill both ways); favorite trips to Fairy Lake; traveling and spending time with family and friends. She was a very spiritual person and confident in her beliefs. Those who were fortunate to know her were touched by her loving and caring ways. Her generosity and kind heart were an inspiration to her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ladd Pippy, her sons David and Bobby Dargan, her parents, her sister Jo Brogan and son-in-law Dan Hanson.

Shirley was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She raised six children who all adored and loved her very much.

She is survived by her children Rod (Lois) Gwaltney of Gold Beach, OR, John Ramie Dargan of Helena, Sue Hanson of Spokane, Wa and Chris (Jenny) Dargan of Helena, her treasured grandchildren & great grandchildren; Justin & Clete Gwaltney, Lanny Dargan, Aryn (Steve) Presta, Matt & Zach Hanson, Sarah & Shaina Dargan, Sherry Dargan (Mark), Shelley Dargan, and Matt (Brit-Nee) Byrd, Daniel Julius Presta, Addicus Hanson & MacKenzy Byrd. She is also survived by her sister Jane (Ed) Wilson of Wilsall, Jimmy Brogan, Mike and Pam Lucas, as well numerous nieces, nephews and very special friends abroad.
