A Celebration of Life: will be held on Sunday, March 21stat 1:30 p.m. at the Town and Country Club.
Shirley Jean Swanson, beloved wife and soulmate of Hale Swanson, died March 17, 2010 after a long battle with cancer.
Shirley was born June 29, 1937 in Casper, Wyoming, the daughter of Manis and Mary Eudena Roush. She was the loving mother of Eric (Lianne) Swanson of Agua Dulce, California and Scott (Tracy) Swanson of Grove City Minnesota, the sister of Gary (Pat) Roush of Williamsburg Virginia, and beloved daughter of Dena Roush of Billings, Montana. She was also the beloved grandmother of US Army Specialist Aaron Swanson (Iraq), Dena Swanson (Minnesota) and Sherry Swanson (Minnesota), great grandmother of Rhiannon Swanson, and best friend of Tamara Cain.
Shirley married her college sweetheart in 1957, and lived in Miles City Montana for over 45 years. She worked as Administrative Assistant at the Minnehaha County Mental Health Center in Sioux Falls SD until the birth of her first son. She sang with the Norma Hartse singers. She was Secretary of the Miles City Community Concert Association for many years. She was President of the Miles City Town & Country Club Ladies Association for several years and head of their Decorating Committee for several years. She enjoyed golf, bridge, and decorating. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Manis G. Roush.
Graveside services will be held at the Custer County Cemetery at 1:00 pm Saturday, March 20th, and a Celebration of Life will be held at the Town and Country Club at 1:30 pm on Sunday, March 21st. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is entrusted with the arrangements.
