Graveside service for Sophie Tholson of Northfield, Massachusetts will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 23, 2005 at Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette, Wyoming with Father Cliff Jacobson of St. Matthews Catholic Church officiating.
Sophie Danilewicz Tholson, age 90, died Saturday morning, December 17, 2005 at Charlene Manor Nursing Home in Greenfield, Mass. of natural causes. Services were held at Kidder Funeral Home in Northfield, MA on December 20, 2005.
Mrs. Tholson was born in June of 1915 to Victor and Gladys Danilewicz in the town of Keene, New Hampshire, and raised in Greenfield. She met Calvin Tholson while serving in the United States Military in the city of Manila, in the Philippine Islands. They were married on July 23, 1955 in Bakersfield, California. During her time with the government she lived in England, the Philippines, Germany and Australia. Mrs. Tholson retired to live in Northfield, Mass. close to Greenfield. She and her husband celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary during this past summer.
Mrs. Tholson loved to cook and read classic literature. Because she traveled for a living, she always carried a homemade cookbook in her hand luggage. She has only recently come into possession of a television, of which she previously thought was unnecessary. A traditional person at heart, she would never use a microwave. Her hobbies also included gardening with her husband and bird watching.
Sophie was a very formidable but loving person, says her sister-in-law, JoAnn Tholson.
Mrs. Tholson is survived by her husband, Calvin, her brother and sister in-law, John and JoAnn Tholson of Rozet Wyoming, her three nieces, two nephews, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her two older sisters, her older brother and
a niece.
Memorials and condolences may be sent in Mrs. Tholsons name in care of Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home 210 W. 5th St., Gillette, WY 82716 or via the internet at www.stevensonandsons.com
