Stanley Robbins, age 85, of Circle, Montana passed away Sunday, July 23, 2006 at Roundup Memorial Extended Care in Roundup, Montana.
Stanley Burns Robbins was born on December 7, 1920 to Ralph and Bertha Tatman Robbins on the family homestead northeast of Brockway. He attended school in Brockway until 1938 when he joined the CCC corp of Jordan. He returned to graduate from Circle High School in 1941. Stanley spent the next forty years living in the house he was born in and farming and ranching even though he was riddled with arthritic pain. Stanley married Kate Madsen on August 28, 1942 at her family homestead near Summit, Montana. They worked together raising three children, farming, and ranching sheep and cattle until moving to Circle in 1999. After he retired from farming, Stanley worked for Dreyer Electric for eight years. Stanley was active in the Soil Conservation Service and was involved with the 4-H program for more than twenty years. He was a Masonic Lodge member for over fifty years, as well as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for forty years.
Stanley enjoyed working with wood and agatesmaking jewelry, clocks, and lamps. He and Kate enjoyed their years following the art and craft showsdisplaying their works and visiting with friends, family, and strangers. Stanley always enjoyed playing cards whether it was at the Senior Center or at family gatherings. One of Stanleys greatest loves was his children. He was Uncle Dudley to numerous nieces and nephews, and Grandpa to six grandchildren: Sherry (Brooke) MacGillivray, Brenda (Mike) McHenry, Shawn Robbins, Jody (Lance) Barney, Brian Rodeghiero, and Chad (Courtnie) Massar. He was Great-Grandpa Pill to Reice and Michael McHenry, Shaylar, Jaydan, and Skylar MacGillivary, and Colter and Wyatt Barney. Stanley passed his love of fishingand his secret to spit on the hookon to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His sense of humor will be fondly remembered by his family and friends.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, brothers, Lester & Terance, and sister, Betty Jean Jensen. He is survived by his wife, Kate, of 63 years, children, Helen (Bruno) Rodeghiero of Roundup, MT, Tom (Deanna) Robbins of Anchorage, AK, Phyllis (Ross) Massar of Sheridan, MT, and sister, Mary Lou Gebhardt of Brockway, MT.
