Starla Giesick, 45, of Colstrip passed away with her family and friends at her side on Monday April 8, 2013. Heaven has gained a worthy angel. She fought a courageous battle, but could not overcome the injuries she received in a motorcycle accident 6 days earlier. Starla will forever be remembered for her kindness , and personality. She will be greatly missed by family and friends whom had the pleasure to know her, and experience that love and kindness in her heart. Starla was a devoted wife, and best friend to her husband Steve for 21 years. She was a loving mother to two children, and grandmother of seven. Her kids and grandbabies were her biggest joys in life. She had a heart of gold, and a zest for life.
Starla is survived by her husband Steve, son Drew (Becka) Jenrich, daughter Heather (Brandon) Higginbotham, mother and step-dad Donna and Bill Price, father Rick Rogers, sister Laura Hobbs and god-daughter Tristine Giesick. She had many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles whom loved her dearly.
We lost a bright star when Starla passed away, but heaven has gained an angel whom will bring smiles and joy to whoever she touches.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 1:00 PM in the Frank Brattin Middle School in Colstrip. Burial will take place at a later date. Dear Family and Friends of Starla Giesick – Please be comforted by promises found in the Bible at this difficult time. Continue to dwell on the happy memories and fine qualities that you remember about Mrs. Giesick. Death and suffering was not part of Almighty God’s purpose for mankind. Everything that God created was “very good” (Genesis 1:31). Sickness and death came to mankind due to Adam’s sin (Genesis 2:17) which made Adam and his descendants imperfect. Because Jesus sacrificed his perfect human life, hope of everlasting life was restored. The Bible promises that death will be done away with (Revelation 21:4). Faith in these Bible promises gives us hope. Please look forward to the joy of again seeing Starla Giesick in perfect Paradise conditions which was God originally purposed for the earth. Faith in these promises will hopefully ease the pain of loss. Meanwhile we have the opportunity to follow Jesus’ instruction to continue to take in Bible knowledge that leads to everlasting life (John 17:3).

So I remember going to my Aunt Starla and Uncle Owen’s house one night for dinner on Colstrip when I was little. One of the sides was steamed broccoli, and I don’t recall if it was Drew, or Heather, or myself, but one of us didn’t really like broccoli. So she told us that it, broccoli, looks like a little tree if you stand it upright which was probably the coolest thing you can say to little ones with imaginations alight, because I always think about it now, even at 32, when I eat it. And I must say, I quite love my steamed “little trees”.
Love you Aunt Starla.
