Stella Olivia Rogge, age 84, of Sand Springs passed away on May 29, 2008 at the Garfield County Center with her husband Clarence at her side.
Stella Olivia Barker was born March 22, 1924 on the old McGlenn place in Western Garfield County Montana. She was the second daughter born to Emil and Ina Barker. She grew up on the family ranch only a few miles from where she was born. Growing up she spent her most enjoyable times on her special horse, Lucky, with her dog at her side. She rode many miles over the prairie going to school or visiting friends.She attended 7th grade through high school in Jordan living at the dorm. During that time she met the love of her life, Clarence Rogge, and they married on November 16, 1942 in Miles City. They had two children, Lois and Richard.From an early age Stella was very musical, playing the piano and accordion. She instilled this love of music in her children and there was never a family gathering without several jam sessions. Clarence and Stella settled early in their marriage, on a ranch adjoining her parents where she continued to enjoy horseback riding and her beloved dogs and cats and always accompanying Clarence for rides in the pick-up checking the cows or getting the mail.
Stella and Clarence played with the Jordanaires for dances, community get togethers and for birthdays at the rest home. Clarence and Stella celebrated 65 years of marriage on November 16, 2007.
Stella was preceded in death by her parents, sister Alice and son Richard.
She is survived by husband Clarence of Sand Springs, daughter Lois (Darrell) Johnson of Dillon, grandchildren, Sheryl (Brad) Wutzke of Billings, Elisa (Gerard) Murnion of Laurel, Kevin Rogge of Butte, Brian, Rachel & Coryn Rogge of Laurel, great- grandchildren, Sarah Wutzke of Billings and Elizabeth, Katie and Charles Murnion of Laurel.
