Steven Big Back (Hanoseeeotse) Dives Backwards, made his sacred journey to join our departed relatives on May 10, 2012. Steven is a member of the Swift Fox Society. He was born January 27, 1940 in a tent by the log house in Lame Deer, Mt.
Steven is survived by one brother and four sisters: Eugene (Clarice) Big Back, Sr., Lame Deer, Mt., Cecelia Big Back, Lame Deer, Mt., Nancy Big Back, Lame Deer, Mt. and Bertha Limberhand, Lame Deer, Mt., and Virginia Toews, Billings Mt. Numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who he loved dearly.
Steven was preceded in death by his father, John Big Back and beloved mother Nina Standing Elk Big Back. Sisters, Ora June Edwards, Louise Big Back and brothers, Major and John Jr. Big Back. Nephews, Daniel Limberhand and Michael Big Back.
Steven was a quiet, spiritual man. He greatly enjoyed pow wows, baseball, and basketball. Steven will be missed by everyone that knew him. We love you, brother, Uncle and Grandpa.
Wake and funeral services will take place at the Lame Deer Mennonite Church. There will be a wake service starting at 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 13, 2012. Funeral services will start at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 14, 2012. Burial will follow in the Big Back Family Cemetery in Lame Deer. Everyone is invited to a feast following the burial services at the Mennonite Church.
