In Memory Of

Steven Carrell, age 43, of Ashland

March 24, 1981 – September 26, 2024

Steven Manuel Carrell was born to Jonita Morrison and Lyle Small on March 24, 1981. He was adopted by Jeff Carrell and Betty Rogers at the age of 6 weeks. He was raised in a loving home in Ashland with his sisters: Kim, Arlene, LeeAnn, and brother Waylon.

He attended school in Colstrip, Ashland, and Lame Deer. He moved to North Bend Oregon with his father at age 18 where he received his high school diploma.

Steven then returned to Lame Deer and worked at wild land firefighting and various other jobs around the area. He then attended job Corp where he obtained certifications in diesel mechanics and carpentry. He then returned to Oregon where he worked on the crabbing boat, “Jaguar”.

Steven attended college at Western Oregon University at Monmouth, Oregon. There he received a bachelor’s degree in business with a minor in marketing. He began working in the Coos Bay area and it was there he met his future wife, Crystal Espy.

Steven loved spending time with his siters, Tiffany, Mary, Sara and brother, Lee while in Oregon.

Steven and Crystal and daughters, Jennifer and Jessica spent the next 5 years living in Oregon before moving back to Ashland, MT. It was there, they adopted their son, Justin. Steven, Crystal, Justin and their dog, Bumpy all lived in the Ashland area for the past 10 years.

One of his passions was being in the outdoors and running marathons. He also loved to go hunting and fishing, especially with his uncle, Joe Morrison.

Steven was preceded in death by his adopted father, Jeff Carrell; birth mother, Jonita Morrison; and sisters, Kim and LeeAnn.

Steven is survived by his adopted mother, Betty Rogers; father, Lyle Small; brothers, Waylon Rogers, Brad Carrell, Lee Small; sisters, Arlene Rogers Shotgun, Tiffany Small Togstad, Mary Small Perry, Sara Small McIntire. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews of the Fisher, Small and Morrison Families.
