Funeral Service: Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at theCathedral of Helena

Interment: Thursday, June 11, 2010 at St Catherine Parish in Boulder, MT

Susan (Engelhard) Zezeus, wife of Walter Zezeus, mother of Deidre Loyda, Dean Zezeus, Darcy Kreamer and grandmother of fourteen, passed away at St Peters Hospital in Helena, Montana on June 4, 2010. Susan suffered from brain cancer since December of 2009; her death was expected and blessedly peaceful.

Susans husband Walter lovingly cared for her at home until the last 78 hours of her cancer battle required advanced care.Susans soul united with the Church Triumphant after spending the day with her children, husband, family and friends at her side.Susans father, Earl, passed away when she was only eight years old; so she grew up quickly (and forbade her mother to marry again!). Susan, her mother Dorthea, and sister Deidre bonded in adversity. Susan developed a superior sensitivity to the needs of others, having been keenly in need herself. A supremely capable person in all respects, Susan was also a wonderful artist with sure hands and a skilled eye who quickly mastered every art form she put her hand to, from painting to pointillism to photography. In recent years Susan concentrated on quilting. She crafted and donated a number of quilts for the Helena Diocese annual Son Light auctions raising money for youth programs as well as other charitable causes. Christmas at the homes of family and friends always anticipated the unveiling of Susans latest creation, which are now treasured keepsakes.

Gentle, thoughtful, but definitely firm, Susan anticipated a persons needs and met them before you knew that you needed help. She spent her entire life in work and service, and is our model for the generous application of time and attention to the needs of others. We are confident that Susan is currently in the company of her three unborn children who preceded her to their eternal rest, along with her parents and the remainder of her celestial family. We love her, we miss her, and we ask her to pray for us.
A deep, heart felt thank you to Drs. Eodice, Dr. Gorsuch, Dr. Weiner, Dr. Lynch and the remarkable staff at St. Peters Hospital who all guided us along this poignant journey with compassion, strength and honesty.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Dorthea and Earl Engelhard. She survived by Walter Zezeus, Jefferson City, MT, Spouse; Deidre Miller, Camano Island, WA, Sister; Deidre (Peter) Loyda, Kalispell, MT, Daughter; Dean (Margaret) Zezeus, Gainesville, VA, Son; Darcy (Jeff) Kreamer, Jefferson City, MT, Daughter; 14 Grandchildren.

Visitation/Rosary Service, will be held at 7:30 p.m., June 9, 2010 at Saint Catherine Parish, Boulder, MT. Funeral Mass will be held on June 10, 2010 at the Cathedral of Helena at 10:00 am with a reception to follow. Burial is scheduled on June 11, St Catherine Parish in Boulder, MT with a reception to follow at St. Catherines. Local arrangements have been entrusted to Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home. Dearest Susan, you are dearly missed by so many. As your son-in-law, you embraced me as one of your own children. I treasured spending time with you and Walt. You made the holidays so enjoyable and so memorable. You made my favorite, Hot Buttered Rum………..mmmmmmm, I sure miss them. I will always remember putting together the most difficult puzzles with you on weekends. You always left the puzzle perfectly in place until I was able to rejoin you for more progress. I especially remember the puzzles that had no picture to go by and no borders. So much fun !!!!! Your quilts hang in my house with pride. Your daughter, my wife, Deidre, treasures these and puts them up with pride during the seasons, as well as the year-round ones. We get compliments on them from every guest that comes over. On a personal note, I want to thank you for all of your support, guidance and love over the years. Your selfless giving will forever be remembered and cherished. Deidre, Jordan, Joshua, Jessica, Joseph (Bubba) and I think of you often. You are with us each day in spirit and through your quilts in our home. I promise to be a quality husband to Deidre throughout my life, as she brings me joy every single day. Please know that you have touched so many lives in so many ways over time. Your name will always carry great respect and dignity. I love you and miss you Susan. You will be in my daily prayers as I know that you are with God and his people in heaven. I sometimes think that the clouds in the sky are quilts that you have made in heaven to provide shade on hot days, rain to help the dry days and to add beauty to the endless skies above me. We will continue working on the puzzle of life through prayers. Sincerely, Peter Loyda.
