Susan Hom, age 65, of Miles City.

September 16, 1957 – December 19, 2022

Our beautiful Wife and Mother, Susan Hom, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 19, 2022, in Miles City. She passed away peacefully at the age of 65. She carried herself with so much love, strength and grace. She seemed to have chosen the exact moment of her departure. Her will was so strong. She held on until she knew our family would be together again. We think she planned it that way. We know she did. She is finally free.

Susan Gayle Hom was born in National City, California on September 16, 1957. She was born to Sam Eldred and Edna Louise Miller.

In July 1978, she married the love of her life, Kevin Hom. They were married for 44 years. They went on to have 3 daughters, Augustine (Wayne Irion), April (Caleb Samuelson), Amanda (Clay Lammers) and a son Andrew Hom. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Brandon, Colten and Beckham Irion, Ephraim, Elias, Eastin and Everly Samuelson, Cruiz and Rylee Lammers and Jorden Hom. She is also survived by her two sisters, Barbara Abeyta and Karen Laznik. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam Eldred and Edna Louise Miller and her grandparents, Henry and Jewel Griffith.

She was an Army and Railroad wife. Her support and commitment to her family was unmeasurable. Being a military wife, she was able to see the world with her husband and four children. She had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community in Miles City. She was such a beautiful soul. She touched everyone’s lives she came in contact with.

  1. To the Hom Family, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Susan. I got the pleasure of working with her at Walmart for a few years. Then again through boy scouts when my boys were young. She was always such an amazing and giving person with a heart of gold. She will be greatly missed by so many. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

  3. My heart breaks to see this. My daughter let me know of this sad situation just a short while ago so that I could make sure my oldest brother was made aware. My brother, Keith, and Kevin were old Army buddies. In fact, Kevin and Sue and Keith and Judy were dear friends back then. I have been blessed to have some of the Hom girls as MCC students, as well. My sincerest condolences go out to all of you at this very sad time.

    Sending love to all of you as you grieve your WONDERFUL mother getting her angel wings. Your mom was so kind and always happy. She loved my late Aunt Judy Sleight dearly and it was always a nice reminder of that connection when I would see her over the years since my aunt went to heaven. God be with you all and may her memory forever be a BLESSING.

  6. Dear Kevin and Family – We were so sorry to hear of the loss of Susan. When Slade worked with you on the railroad he was always so impressed with Susan and the way she handled life so well with and without Kevin around – a life that is especially hard on wives in both the railroad and the military. I was most impressed with her graciousness that I called her Lori for about five times of first meeting her and it wasn’t until I was corrected and apologized she told me she wasn’t worried about it at all! She said she kind of liked the name!
    We will be praying for all of you with the loss of such an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

  69. Dear Hom family, I first met Susan when we worked together at Bill’s Mini Market. She was so much fun to work with. Kind and soft spoken, she had a great sense of humor and her quiet, dry humor made me laugh at a time in my life when not much was funny. It was always good to catch up with her when we saw each other at Walmart. She loved her family to no end, she was proud of all of you. I am shocked to hear Susan passed away.
