Tawny Lee Whistling Elk, age 37, of Muddy Cluster

August 21, 1983 – March 25, 2021

Tawny Lee Whistling Elk (China Doll)
Tawny was born on August 21, 1983 in Billings, Montana to the late Brenda Lee Limberhand and Timothy (Bob) Whistling Elk Sr. She was called home on March 25, 2021. Tawny grew up on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Lame Deer, Montana. Raised by mother Rachael Two Two, the late Timothy “Bob” Whistling Elk Sr and Grandmother the late Newta Mae Whistling Elk-Manley. As a child known as ‘Bola’ the nickname her father gave her, she loved playing with makeup, forcing her younger sisters to put it on, she loved playing basketball, she loved to cruise around with all her friends and siblings, like to play outside w/friends, brothers and sisters. She loved playing Not-it, Hide-n-Seek, Kick the can, egging cars, and ding dong ditch, dancing, she loved going to concerts, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Tech N9ne was her favorites, she enjoyed going on nature drives and camping with her family, she was a huge Seahawk fan. Her passion of make-up and beaded earrings became her everyday life, making sure her make-up and earrings were on fleek.
Tawny attended Colstrip, St Labre and graduating in 2001 as a Morning Star. She is a Lady Morning Star for life is what her father would say, while in school she excelled in Math, being one of the best Volleyball players on the Volleyball team. She then went on to attend Haskell University in 2003 where she met Jorge Felix Jr then moving to Omak, Washington and from that union they had two beautiful daughters Tamiah NuRae and Tehya Angel-Rose Whistling Elk-Felix and later separating in 2013 after moving back home to Lame Deer MT she met the love of her life Steven Littlewhiteman and with that union came three beautiful children Stevie Mae, Stryker Elk and Stetson James and made their home in Muddy Cluster.
Tawny worked at various jobs including the Cheyenne Depot, Cheyenne Bakery, a bingo bunny at Charging Horse casino & bingo, a manager at Pizza Hut and recently working at Subway. She was a Avon and Paparazzi Consultant, she was a hard worker very determined to provide for her family.
She had many accomplishments in her life; one was being in the Billings breastfeeds project, where a life size poster board was displayed throughout Billings, MT because of her advocacy in breastfeeding.
Tawny had an outgoing personality, making friends wherever she was, a smile that can light up the room and her beauty leaving imprints on people who met her.
In Tawny’s spare time she loved spending time with family and friends, was all about family. She had an awesome sense of humor always making everyone laugh, Tawny was a very loving and caring mother, sister, niece, and grandma to her very first granddaughter Zendaya, Tawny made a lot of friends who became family to her, best friends were LariJean Beartusk, Stella Seminole, Joni Kaye Charrette, Amanda Whitecrane, and Nancy Bighawk, Sara Young and Rhea New Holy to name a few
Tawny is a Kingfisher decendent, she comes from a long line of Chiefs and Warriors, including Braided Hair, Whistling Elk, Strong Left hand, Crazy Head, Sun Roads and Powder River.

    😭 My Baby China Doll Tawny. This is unreal for Auntie. I’m happy in my heart I was able to talk to you & sit with you at the hospital. Was hard asking family & friends to go see you before you left our physical world. I remember when you were just a baby with all that hair and grew into a beautiful lady. I can’t fathom this pain being selfish. Now 😭 You will be reunited with Your Love Steven, your daddy my little brother Bob, your little brother “Bobby” and Mom Brenda. You were an awesome Momma My Gorgeous Girl. No more heart attack no more suffering & pain. Auntie Loves You & I will Miss your beautiful smile. Your children, siblings your Mom Rachel & rest of us will Cherish you on our our Memories. RIP Tawny “China Doll”.
