Ted was born in Stockton, Kansas on February 1, 1922, the son of Edward Oddy and Marie (Orestad) Oddy. He was raised in Sioux City, Iowa where he attended school. Ted met the love of his life, Dorothy Long and the two were married on March 22, 1944. On December 8, 1942, he joined the United States Army and was honorably discharged on April 27, 1944. Following his discharge, he returned to Sioux City for a short time before moving to Miles City, MT in 1950. Upon his arrival to Miles City he began working for Bill Aldrich painting and eventually purchased the company from him. Ted operated Custer Decorators until the late 1980´s when he was forced to slow down due to ill health, but still enjoyed helping when he could.
Ted enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed his time traveling to Yellowstone Park where he learned almost every trail in the park. Ted had a natural ability to tell a great story. He could often be heard telling his many life stories to his grandkids and great-grandkids. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Ted is survived by his children: Larry (Diane) Oddy of Manhattan, MT; Gary Oddy of Miles City, MT; Ted Oddy of Sioux Falls, SD and Lynelle (Harry) March of Kinsey, MT; two sisters, Gladys Heeren of Sioux City, Iowa and Edna MaHoney of Omaha, NB and eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Ted is also survived by his special friend Bonnie Viall.
Ted was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; his parents and one brother, Lewis Oddy.
